REGULAR MEETING <br />APRIL 25, 1988 <br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and <br />carried, the above request was approved and a date of May 9, <br />1988, was established for the receiving and opening of sealed <br />bids. <br />REQUEST TO CLOSE PORTION OF EAST WAYNE STREET FOR NEIGHBORHOOD <br />BLOCK PARTY - REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Rubin A. Sullivan, 1118 East Wayne <br />Street, South Bend, Indiana, advised that the residents of East <br />Wayne Street are planning a neighborhood picnic over the Memorial <br />Day weekend and they would therefore like the following portion <br />of East Wayne Street closed from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on <br />Sunday, May 29, 1988 (rain date Monday, May 30th): <br />- From 1118 East Wayne Street to the corner of East <br />Wayne Street South and Sunnyside; <br />- From East Wayne Street North (1204 E. Wayne N.) on the <br />curve of the island to East Wayne Street South (1203 <br />E. Wayne Street). <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq <br />and carried, the above referred to request was referred to the <br />appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and recom- <br />mendation. <br />REQUEST OF WEST SIDE MEMORIAL DAY COMMITTEE TO CONDUCT MEMORIAL <br />Y PARADE - MAY 30 1988 - REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Adeline Waslicki-Jaskowiak, <br />Secretary, West Side Memorial Committee, advised that the West <br />.Side Memorial Day Committee requests permission to conduct the <br />annual Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 30, 1988. Mrs. <br />Jaskowiak further advised that the parade will assemble at 8:00 <br />a.m. at Olive and Ford Street and will move out at 8:30 a.m. <br />proceeding West on Ford Street past Pierre Navarre School to <br />disband at Summit Drive. Ms. Jaskowiak stated that the parade <br />will last approximately one and one-half hours. Upon a motion <br />made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, <br />the request was referred to the appropriate City departments and <br />bureaus for review and recommendation. <br />APPROVE TITLE SHEETS <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq <br />and carried, the following Title Sheets were approved and signed: <br />1. Intersection Improvements at Miami & Jackson and at <br />Ironwood & Ewing <br />2. I/N Tek Sanitary Sewer Extension Project (lift station <br />construction) <br />APPROVE CONTRACTOR'S BOND <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Melvin Humphrey, Engineering <br />Department, recommended that the Contractor's Bond for C. Wardlow <br />Construction be approved retroactive to April 18, 1988. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and <br />carried, the recommendation was accepted and the bond approved. <br />FILING OF ENVIRONMENTAL CLEAN-UP OF LOTS REPORT <br />A report from the Department of Code Enforcement indicating a <br />total of thirty-eight (38) properties cleaned from April 15, 1988 <br />to April 21, 1988 was submitted. Upon a motion made by Mrs. <br />DeClercq, seconded by Ms. Humphreys and carried, the report as <br />submitted was filed. <br />
