REGULAR MEETING
APRIL 18, 1988
morning and the street will be re -opened if the tests are
favorable. If not, the street will probably be closed for a few
more days in order to give the concrete more time to dry.
QUESTIONS REGARDING USE OF HOWARD PARK ICE SKATING RINK FOR
SKATEBOARD RIDERS
Mr. James Wensits, Reporter, South Bend Tribune, inquired of Mrs.
Patricia E. DeClercq, Director, Department of Code Enforcement,
how the use of the Howard Park Ice Skating Rink is being received
for use by youths to ride their skateboards. Mrs. DeClercq
stated that the use of the ice skating rink appears to be working
and that a meeting will be arranged with area youth to determine
how well the rink is working. She also stated that the City will
continue to look at what needs to be done to make sure the youth
have a safe place to go and practice and that every eventuality
is being looked at. She further stated that the hours that the
rink is available is being reviewed as the present hours appear
to be restrictive as school is not yet out for the summer. Mrs.
DeClercq further stated that supervision is one of the elements
that must be considered when looking into extended hours in the
evenings and weekends.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the Board, upon a
motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and
carried, the meeting adjourned at 10:00 a.m.
atriseia E. DeC
erine HumpN eys
ATTE T:
Sandra M. Parmerlee, Clerk
1
1
1
