M <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />APRIL 18, 1988 <br />$355.00. The following bid was received: <br />MR. DAVID POPIELSKI BID: $60.00 <br />1523 West Sample Street <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Popielski stated, in his offer <br />to purchase, that the lot is overgrown and has a considerable <br />amount of posts, rubbish, old logs, wire fencing and brush which <br />all require removal and proper disposal. Due to the time and <br />expense involved in cleaning the lot, Mr. Popielski stated that <br />he feels that the offer of $60.00 is fair. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq <br />and carried, the bid of Mr. Popielski in the amount of $60.00 was <br />referred to the City Controller, the Department of Code <br />Enforcement and the City Attorney's office for review and <br />recommendation. <br />APPROVE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CONTRACT <br />The following Community Development Contract was presented to the <br />Board for approval: <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />NEAR WEST SIDE PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS <br />The targeted goal for this activity is to improve five <br />(5) blocks within the Near West Side Neighborhood <br />Revitalization Area. The total cost of this activity shall <br />not exceed $14,000.00. <br />Ms. Betsy Harriman, Office of Community Development, advised that <br />1987 monies will be combined with the above referred to amount <br />for a total of $57,000.00. She further stated that this amount <br />will be utilized for the Cherry Street project which entails <br />sidewalks, street repair and paving. <br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Ms. Humphreys <br />and carried, the above Contract was approved and executed. <br />APPROVE AGREEMENT F( <br />-WAY FOR FOOT RACES <br />AND SIMILAR EVENTS - 18TH ANNUAL WALK AMERICA - APRIL 23 1988 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that pursuant to the Board's March 7, <br />1988, approval of the above referred to request, the appropriate <br />Agreement for Use of Public Right -of -Way for Foot Races and <br />Similar Events is being submitted for approval and execution. It <br />was noted that the required $1,000,000.00 Certificate of <br />Insurance and Proof of Payment to Civil Defense and WeatherWatch <br />officers assisting in this event were submitted with the <br />Agreement. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconded by Ms. Humphreys and carried, the Agreement was approved <br />and executed. <br />APPROVE PROPOS. <br />USE OF PUBLIC RIGS <br />CES/PREVENTATIVE <br />REGIONAL BASEBALL ST <br />(COLE ASSOCIATES, INC.) <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Arden L. Floran, P.E., <br />Vice-President-Mechanical/Electrical, Cole Associates, Inc., 2211 <br />East Jefferson Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana, has submitted a <br />Proposal for Engineering Services/Preventative Maintenance Manual <br />for the Stanley Coveleski Regional Baseball Stadium. <br />FOR ENGINEERING <br />L - STANLEY COV <br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that the Proposal is for engineering <br />services relative to the preparation of a preventative <br />maintenance procedure manual for the mechanical and electrical <br />systems at the Coveleski Stadium. Mr. Leszczynski further stated <br />that the not -to -exceed cost for this project will be $5,000.00, <br />�I <br />
