REGULAR MEETING <br />APRIL 4, 1988 <br />WALSH & KELLY, INC. QUOTATION: $25,080.50 <br />24358 State Road 23 <br />South Bend, Indiana 46614 <br />Quotation was submitted by Douglas V. Kesler. <br />RIETH-RILEY CONSTRUCTION CO. INC. QUOTATION: $27,587.08 <br />P.O. Box 1775 <br />South Bend, Indiana 46634 <br />Quotation was submitted by Kenneth G. Noble, Sales Manager. <br />In response to a question from the news media, Mr. Leszczynski <br />advised that the City owns the property currently used by <br />Teacher's Credit Union as a parking lot and that this project <br />involves work such as resurfacing, installation of slotted drains <br />and drives. <br />Board Attorney Thomas Bodnar advised the Board that as the <br />Quotations received were over $25,000.00, the formal bidding <br />process must be utilized. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Humphreys and carried, the <br />Quotations received were rejected and the approval given to <br />advertise for the receipt of Bids for this project. <br />ADOPTION OF RESOLUTION NO. 9-1988 - DECLARING VEHICLE OBSOLETE <br />(POLICE DEPARTMENT) <br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that Police Chief Charles T. Hurley has <br />requested that mechanical #733, a four (4) door 1976 Oldsmobile, <br />be removed from the police fleet inventory. Chief Hurley <br />indicated that this vehicle has been and continues to be plagued <br />with numerous mechanical problems and has become too costly to <br />maintain. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the following Resolution <br />No. 9-1988 was adopted: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 9-1988 <br />WHEREAS, it has been determined by the Board of Public <br />Works that the following Police Department vehicle is unfit <br />and no longer needed by the City of South Bend: <br />UNIT YEAR MAKE SERIAL NUMBER <br />733 1976 Oldsmobile 3X39T6M331791 <br />WHEREAS, Indiana Code 36-1-11-6 permits and establishes <br />procedure for disposal of personal property which is unfit for <br />the purpose for which it was intended which is no longer needed <br />by the City. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, <br />of the City of South <br />longer needed by the <br />it was intended. <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the <br />Bend that the vehicle <br />City and is unfit for <br />Board of Public Works <br />listed above is no <br />the purpose for which <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said vehicle be disposed of and <br />and removed from the City Inventory. <br />ADOPTED this 4th day of April, 1988. <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />s/John E.
