Parmerlee, Clerk <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS - SALE OF <br />ABANDONED VEHICLES <br />Mrs. Patricia E. DeClercq, Director, Department of Code <br />Enforcement, requested permission to advertise for the sale of <br />approximately thirty-four (34) abandoned vehicles, which are <br />being stored at Steve & Gene's Auto & Truck Salvage and Repair, <br />3109 South Gertrude Street, South Bend, Indiana. It was noted <br />that all vehicles have been stored more than fifteen (15) days, <br />identification checks had been run for auto theft and the owners <br />and lienholders notified. Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, <br />seconded by Ms. Humphreys and carried, the above request was <br />approved and a date of February 22, 1988, was established for the <br />receiving and opening of sealed bids. <br />PETITION FOR RESTRICTED RESIDENTIAL PARKING ZONE - NORTH SIDE OF <br />THE 1500-1800 BLOCK OF HOOVER AVENUE BETWEEN TWYCKENHAM & <br />GREENLAWN - REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. James J. Panzica, 1615 Hoover <br />Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, advised that he is submitting a <br />Petition for the Establishment of a Restricted Residential <br />Parking Zone on the north side of the 1500-1800 block of Hoover <br />Avenue between Twyckenham and Greenlawn. He further advised that <br />there are thirty-three (33) houses on Hoover Avenue. Mr. Panzica <br />stated that the concerns of the residents who signed the petition <br />are improper parking, careless driving, trash on property, <br />trespassing on private property as well as foul language and <br />dangerous stunts by the students who park in front of their <br />homes. Mr. Panzica further stated that there are twenty-three <br />(23) children under the age of eleven (11) and two (2) <br />handicapped children in the neighborhood. <br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Ms. Humphreys <br />and carried, the above referred to Petition was referred to the <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting in order that the Petition can be <br />reviewed and the appropriate traffic study can be conducted. <br />UEST OF SOUTH BEND TRIBUNE TO CONDUCT <br />RACE - <br />NBURST MARATHON AND <br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Joyce Fox, Race Director, Sunburst <br />Marathon, 225 West Colfax Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, advised <br />that the South Bend Tribune is requesting permission to conduct <br />the Sunburst Marathon (26.2 mile) and the 10K (6.2 mile) road <br />race on Saturday, June 4, 1988. The start of both races will be <br />on the campus of Notre Dame University with the Marathon <br />beginning at 6:00 a.m. and the 10K at 7:15 a.m. Each event will <br />finish in the Notre Dame football stadium. The 10K will end at <br />approximately 8:00 a.m. and the last marathoner should be in the <br />stadium at 11:30 a.m. <br />Submitted with the request were maps of the courses and a mile by <br />mile time schedule showing when the first runners will enter an <br />area and when the area will be clear of Sunburst participants. <br />1 <br />u <br />
