REGULAR MEETING <br />FEBRUARY 1, 1988 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:41 a.m. on Monday, February 1, 1988, by President John E. <br />Leszczynski, with Mr. Leszczynski, Mrs. Patricia E. DeClercq <br />and Ms. Katherine Humphreys present. Also present was Chief <br />Deputy City Attorney Thomas Bodnar. <br />APPROVE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING <br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Ms. Humphreys, <br />and carried, the minutes of the January 25, 1988, regular meeting <br />of the Board were approved. <br />APPROVE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CONTRACTS <br />The following six (6) Community Development Contracts were <br />presented to the Board for approval: <br />FRIENDS OF THE UNEMPLOYED <br />FRIENDS OF THE UNEMPLOYED ACTIVITY <br />The targeted goal for this activity is to assist sixty (60) <br />unemployed persons in obtaining job placement counseling and <br />provide six hundred (600) persons with employment <br />information through a walk-in job clinic. The total cost of <br />this activity shall not exceed $6,500.00. <br />SOUTH BEND REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION <br />REDEVELOPMENT ADMINISTRATIVE BUDGET <br />The total budget of the Redevelopment Administration <br />Activity shall not exceed $201,000.00. <br />CENTER CITY ASSOCIATES, INC. <br />CENTER CITY ASSOCIATES, INC. MATCH <br />The Agency will assist in the marketing and promotion of <br />downtown business activities and develop and implement a <br />downtown revitalization program based upon a public/private <br />partnership. The Agency will also administer a commercial <br />loan/grant fund in the Central Business District. The total <br />cost of this activity shall not exceed $20,000.00. The <br />$20,000.00 will be released to CCA as they document that <br />they have secured the "matching" funds. <br />REAL SERVICES, INC. <br />OLDER ADULT CRIME VICTIM PROGRAM ACTIVITY <br />The targeted goal for this activity is to counsel seven <br />hundred (700) victims. The total cost of this activity <br />shall not exceed $10,150.00. <br />SOUTH BEND HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION <br />HUMAN RIGHTS STAFF ATTORNEY ACTIVITY <br />This Contract provides for the services of a staff attorney <br />as stated in the Program Guidelines and Special Conditions <br />contained in the Contract. The total cost of this activity <br />shall not exceed $13,000.00. <br />HOUSING DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION OF ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, INC. <br />HOUSING REHABILITATION FUND ACTIVITY <br />The targeted goal for this activity is to assist eighty (80) <br />households in their housing rehabilitation efforts. The <br />total cost of this activity shall not exceed $397,437.00. <br />$65,000.00 of these funds must be used for housing <br />assistance within the West Washington/Chapin area. Specific <br />guidelines are to be developed with the Division of <br />Community Planning and Business Assistance. <br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Ms. Humphreys <br />and carried, the above referred to Community Development <br />Contracts were approved and executed. <br />
