316 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />OCTOBER 16, 1989 <br />REQUEST OF SOUTHOLD DANCENTER FOR TRAFFIC ASSISTANCE IN <br />CONJUNCTION WITH HOLIDAY WALK - NOVEMBER 8, 1989 - REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Mrs. Audrey Nelson, 16998 Hampton <br />Drive, Granger, Indiana, advised that the Annual Holiday Walk <br />sponsored by Southold Dancenter will be held on November 8, 1989 <br />from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and will include five (5) houses on <br />the south side of Jefferson Boulevard between the 1300 and 1800 <br />blocks. Mrs. Nelson requested the use of "Slow" and "Pedestrian <br />Crossing" signs to insure the safety of the patrons. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and <br />carried, the request was referred to the appropriate City <br />departments and bureaus for review and recommendation. <br />REQUEST OF ST. JOSEPH VALLEY CHAPTER OF NATIONAL ORGANIZATION OF <br />UUNVUNC:'X1UN WITh RALLY - NUVEMBER 1L, IVUV - REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Nancy Hochman, Chapter Secretary, <br />Apt. 1, 520 West Jefferson Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana, <br />advised that the St. Joseph Valley Chapter of the National <br />Organization of Women is interested in sponsoring a Rally on the <br />steps of the County Courthouse on Main Street on November 12, <br />1989 from approximately 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Ms. Hochman stated <br />that they are simultaneously contacting the County Commissioners <br />for permission to use the courthouse steps. As the Rally may <br />spill over from the steps to the sidewalk, permission is <br />requested for use of the sidewalk in front of the courthouse on <br />this date. <br />Ms. Hochman stated that the Rally's purpose is to express the <br />participants' support of reproductive freedom and their <br />opposition to further legal restriction of abortion. <br />Approximately two hundred (200) persons are expected to attend. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq <br />and carried, the request was referred to the appropriate City <br />departments and bureaus for review and recommendation. <br />APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES <br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski <br />and carried, the following two (2) traffic control devices were <br />approved: <br />1. NEW INSTALLATION: One (1) Hour parking <br />6 a.m. to 6 p.m. <br />LOCATION: 2429 South Michigan Street <br />REMARKS: To allow turn -over in front of <br />the business operated by Mr. <br />Kevin Howell <br />2. NEW INSTALLATION: No Parking <br />LOCATION: Hamden Court (both sides) <br />APPROVE RELEASE OF EXCAVATION BOND <br />Mr. Michael P. Meeks, Director, Division of Engineering, <br />recommended that the Excavation Bond for Heritage Cablevision <br />Associates be released effective July 12, 1990. Upon a motion <br />made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, <br />the recommendation was accepted and the bond released effective <br />July 12, 1990. <br />APPROVE CLAIMS <br />Mr. Juan Manigault, Executive Director, Employment Training <br />Services of St. Joseph County, submitted a list containing one <br />hundred four (104) claims, Chief Deputy Controller John D. <br />Leisenring submitted Claim Docket No. 15218 through Claim Docket <br />No. 15469 and Voucher Nos. 805-840 for the Bureau of Wastewater, <br />Voucher Nos. 583-649 for the Bureau of Sewers and Voucher Nos. <br />
