• o <br />• <br />REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 21, 1989 <br />BID: <br />TOTAL AMOUNT OF BASE BID - INCLUDING <br />CONTINGENT ITEMS: $169,410.00 <br />TOTAL AMOUNT OF ALTERNATE NO. 1 - <br />INCLUDING CONTINGENT ITEMS: $171,490.00 <br />TOTAL AMOUNT OF ALTERNATE NO. 2 - <br />INCLUDING CONTINGENT ITEMS: $142,631.00 <br />In response to questions asked by the news media, Mr. Larry <br />Koepfle, Department of Economic Development, advised that this <br />project entails improvements to the area around Seitz Park and <br />consists of installation of parking spaces as well as <br />landscaping. <br />Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the bids received be referred <br />to the Engineering Department for review and recommendation. <br />Mrs. DeClercq seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE WASTEWATER DISCHARGE PERMIT - WOODCOX <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Donald Stilz, Pretreatment <br />Coordinator, Environmental Services, 3113 Riverside Drive, South <br />Bend, Indiana, requested that the Industrial Discharge Permit for <br />Woodcox, 328 North Michigan Street, South Bend, Indiana, be <br />approved. Mr. Stilz noted that the permit is needed to allow <br />Envirocorp of South Bend to perform partial aquifer remediation <br />on a construction site adjacent to a former gasoline service <br />station. Mr. Stilz also advised that Envirocorp will install an <br />oil/water separator to treat the ground -water prior to <br />discharge. <br />Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by <br />Mrs. DeClercq and carried, Wastewater Discharge Permit *SB028 for <br />Woodcox, 328 N. Michigan Street, South Bend, Indiana was <br />approved, effective August 21, 1989 through August 21, 1994. <br />APPROVE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ADDENDUM <br />The following Community Development Addendum was presented to the <br />Board for approval: <br />ADDENDUM I <br />HOUSING DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION <br />HOUSING REHABILITATION FUND ACTIVITY <br />Ms. Betsy Harriman, Office of Community Development, advised <br />that Addendum I submitted to the Board today reduces the <br />Contract amount for the above referred to activity by <br />$25,000.00. Ms. Harriman noted that the $25,000.00 taken <br />from this activity was transferred to the Bureau of Housing <br />administration activity as approved by the Board of Public <br />Works on August 14, 1989. <br />Therefore, Mrs. DeClercq made a motion that the Addendum as <br />submitted be approved and executed. Ms. Humphreys seconded the <br />motion which carried. <br />ADOPT RESOLUTION NO. 31-1989 - AUTHORIZING THE TEMPORARY <br />OBSTRUCTION OF A PORTION OF GRANT STREET AND <br />ADOPT RESOLUTION NO. 32-1989 - AUTHORIZING THE TEMPORARY <br />OBSTRUCTION OF A PORTION OF TUCKER STREET <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that these Resolutions are being <br />submitted to the Board today for consideration at the request of <br />Steel Warehouse Company, Inc., 2722 Tucker Street, South Bend, <br />Indiana. Mr. Leszczynski stated that both streets are unimproved <br />and presently not being used as public right-of-way. Steel <br />Warehouse Company requested that the streets be closed as they <br />are currently being used for unauthorized dumping. <br />1 <br />1 <br />
