176 <br />REGULAR MEETING JUNE 19, 1989 <br />REQUEST OF WOMEN'S ART LEAGUE FOR TRAFFIC ASSISTANCE IN <br />CONJUNCTION WITH GARDEN WALK - SEPTEMBER 7 1989 - REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Barbara B. Towns, 52044 Farmington <br />Square Road, Granger, Indiana, advised that the South Bend <br />Women's Art League is planning a Garden Walk for the cities of <br />South Bend/Mishawaka to take place on September 7, 1989 from <br />10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a rain date of September 8, 1989. <br />All proceeds of this event will be donated to the South Bend Art <br />Center for children's activities and educational programs. <br />Submitted with the letter were the locations of the homes that <br />will be visited on the walk which will begin with the Shiojiri <br />Niwa garden in Mishawaka. <br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Ms. Humphreys <br />and carried, the above referred to information was referred to <br />the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department <br />Traffic Division for a determination of what type of traffic <br />assistance may be required and supplied for this event. <br />REQUEST FOR DESIGNATED HANDICAPPED PARKING SPACE AT 2318 ROGER <br />STREET - REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Myra Barnes, 2318 Roger Street, <br />South Bend, Indiana, advised that she has back arthritis and <br />would like the parking space in front of her residence designated <br />as a handicapped parking space. Upon a motion made by Mrs. <br />DeClercq, seconded by Ms. Humphreys and carried, the request was <br />referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police <br />Department Traffic Division for review and recommendation. <br />AEERUVE REQUEST OF PENTECOS <br />PARADE - JUNE 24, 1989 <br />OF GOD IN CHRIST <br />Mrs. DeClercq advised that the appropriate City departments and <br />bureaus have reviewed the above referred to request which was <br />submitted to the Board on May 30, 1989 and approval is <br />recommended. Therefore, Mrs. DeClercq made a motion that the <br />request be approved. Ms. Humphreys seconded the motion which <br />carried. <br />APPROVE BLOCK PARTY REQUESTS: <br />- TO CLOSE E. WAYNE STREET SOUTH - JUNE 24 1989 <br />- TO CLOSE WALL ST., FROM TWYCKENHAM TO CHESTER - JULY 8 1989 <br />- TO CLOSE DALE ST. BETWEEN IRVINGTON AND ECKMAN - JULY 1 1989 <br />Mrs. DeClercq advised that the above referred to block party <br />requests, submitted to the Board on June 5, 1989 and June 13, <br />1989, have been reviewed by the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting <br />and the Police Department Traffic Division and they have <br />recommended at this time that the block parties be approved. <br />Therefore, upon a motion made by Ms. Humphreys, seconded by Mrs. <br />DeClercq and carried, the recommendations were accepted and the <br />requests approved. <br />APPROVE ETHNIC FESTIVAL ACTIVITIES: <br />- ETHNIC FESTIVAL BED RACE - JULY 2 1989 <br />- STREET CLOSURES FOR ETHNIC FESTIVAL BOOTH AREA - JUNE 27 1989 <br />TO JULY 3. 1989 <br />- ETHNIC FESTIVAL BOOTH APPLICATION <br />- ETHNIC FESTIVAL PARADE - JULY 1 1989 <br />- ETHNIC FESTIVAL 4 MILE RACE AND 1.1 MILE FUN RUN <br />- ETHNIC FESTIVAL BIKE RACE - JULY 1 1989 <br />Mrs. DeClercq advised that the appropriate City departments and <br />bureaus have reviewed the above referred to requests for related <br />Ethnic festival events and approval is recommended.
