158 REGULAR MEETING parking problem at their Center. Therefore, they placed on the following MAY 30, 1989 church related to the Martin Luther King requested that "no parking" signs be streets: 1. Adams Street on both sides from Orange Street to Colfax. 2. Orange Street from Adams to College Street 3. College Street on the east side, from Washington Street to Orange Street. On Orange Street, no parking on either side. Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that this request be referred to the Police Department Traffic Division and the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for review and recommendation. Mrs. DeClercq seconded the motion and it carried. APPROVE BLOCK PARTY REQUESTS: 1. HUEY STREET, FROM LINDEN TO SMITH - JUNE 11, 1989 2. SMITH STREET, FROM OLIVE TO HUEY - JUNE 10, 1989 Mr. Leszczynski advised that the appropriate City departments and bureaus have reviewed the above referred to block party requests which were submitted to the Board on May 22, 1989 and approval is recommended. Therefore, Mrs. DeClercq made a motion that the request to close Huey Street as indicated above be approved. Ms. Humphreys seconded the motion which carried. Additionally, Ms. Humphreys made a motion that the request to close Smith Street, from Olive to Huey, be approved. Mrs. DeClercq seconded that motion and it carried. APPROVE REQUEST TO CONDUCT WORLD'S LARGEST GARAGE SALE AT COLFAX PARKING GARAGE - JUNE 10, 1989 Mr. Leszczynski advised that the appropriate City departments and bureaus have reviewed the above referred to request which was submitted to the Board on March 27, 1989 and approval is recommended at this time. It was noted that Dr. Martin Feferman, owner of the landscaped lot just south of the parking garage, has also granted permission for use of his property as requested. Therefore, Mrs. DeClercq made a motion that the recommendation be accepted and the request be approved. Ms. Humphreys seconded the motion which carried. APPROVE REQUEST OF DEPAR RKS TO CLOSE NILES AVENUE, BETWEEN WASHINGTON AND COLFAX, ON JULY 4, 1989 AND JULY 22-23, 1989 IN CONJUNCTION WITH KAYAK RACES TO BE HELD ON THE EAST RACE Mr. Leszczynski advised that the appropriate City departments and bureaus have reviewed the request of Mr. Karl T. Stevens, Superintendent, Department of Public Parks, to close Niles Avenue, between Washington and Colfax, on July 4, 1989 and July 22-23, 1989 from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in conjunction with the kayak races to be held on the East Race and approval is recommended. Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Ms. Humphreys and carried, the recommendation was accepted and the request approved. APPROVE APPLICATION FOR BIDDER QUALIFICATION Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Application for Bidder Qualification for Ulrich Chemical, Inc. has been reviewed and recommended for approval. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the recommendation was accepted and the application approved. 1 1
