77 REGULAR MEETING MARCH 20. 1989 APPROVE AGREEMENTS - MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC SAFETY Mr. Leszczynski advised that submitted to the Board at this time are renewal Agreements for calendar year 1989 between the three (3) citizen members of the Board of Public Safety, Elmer L. Carr, Jack R. Bland and Thadeus T. Zakowski and the City of South Bend. It was noted that each member of the Board shall receive the sum of three thousand four hundred dollars ($3,400.00) per year for services rendered. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Ms. Humphreys and carried, the Agreements as submitted were approved and executed. REQUEST OF AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY, PULASKI UNIT 357 TO CONDUCT POPPY SALES - MAY 5-6, 1989 - REFERRED In a letter to the Board, Ms. Jean Bowersox, Chairman, American Legion Auxiliary, Pulaski Unit 357, 1606 Western Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, requested permission to offer poppies for sale on May 5 & 6, 1989. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the request was referred to the necessary City departments and bureaus for review and recommendation. REQUEST OF ST. MARY OF THE ASSUMPTION CHURCH AND SCHOOL TO REPLACE DIRECTIONAL SIGN TO THE CHURCH - REFERRED In a letter to the Board,_ Reverend John F. Pfister, Pastor, St. Mary of the Assumption School, 3402 South Locust Road, South Bend, Indiana, advised that located on the southeast corner of Ireland and Locust Roads is an old very worn directional sign to St. Mary's. It is their desire to replace the old sign with something more attractive and readable. The new sign could be located in the same place as the present sign and it would not be obstructive to traffic from either Ireland or Locust Roads. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the request was referred to the appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and recommendation. APPROVE AMENDMENT TO PEBSCO DEFERRED COMPENSATION PLAN Mr. Leszczynski advised that Ms. Katherine Humphreys, Director, Administration and Finance, submitted to the Board changes to the PEBSCO Deferred Compensation Plan document. These changes are a result of the Tax Reform Act of 1986 and the recently passed Technical Corrections Bill. These changes have been reviewed by the City Attorney's office and will be communicated to City employees participating in the Plan. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Ms. Humphreys and carried, the Plan Document, containing the required changes, was approved and executed. APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the following two (2) traffic control devices were approved: 1. REVISED TO: TOW ZONE LOCATION: 100 South Main St. REMARKS: Revised from Sheriff's Parking to Sheriff's Parking - Tow Zone 2. REVISED TO: TOW ZONE LOCATION: 200 South Main Street REMARKS: Revised from "Federal Marshall PARKING" to "Federal Marshall Parking - Tow Zone"
