72 <br />REGULAR MEETING MARCH 13, 1989 <br />APPROVE LEASE AGREEMENT - 25327 STATE ROAD 23 (FRATERNAL ORDER OF <br />POLICE) <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that submitted to the Board is a Lease <br />Agreement between the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 36 and <br />the City of South Bend which indicates that the Fraternal Order <br />of Police leases certain real property described as 25327 State <br />Road 23 to the City of South Bend from February 1, 1989 to and <br />including January 31, 1990 and the City will pay to the Fraternal <br />Order of Police, as rent for said premises, the sum of six <br />thousand dollars ($6,000.00). Upon a motion made by Mrs. <br />DeClercq, seconded by Ms. Humphreys and carried, the Lease <br />Agreement as submitted was approved and executed. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS FOR STREET <br />DEPARTMENT MATERIALS <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Bill Penn, Director, Division of <br />Transportation, requested that the Board advertise for the <br />receipt of bids for Street Department materials for 1989. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and <br />carried, the request was approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS <br />REPLACEMENT OF THE 27TH STREET LIFT STATION <br />Mr. Jack Dillion, Director, Wastewater Treatment Plant, requested <br />that the Board advertise for the receipt of bids for the <br />replacement of the 27th Street Lift Station located at Northside <br />Boulevard. Mr. Dillion advised that this station is one of the <br />oldest in the collection system. Therefore, upon a motion made <br />by made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and <br />carried, the request was approved. <br />REQUEST TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED PROPERTY AT 1629 SOUTH WILLIAM <br />STREET - REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Lucio Ortiz, 1633 South William <br />Street, South Bend, Indiana, advised that he is the owner of lots <br />#8, 9 and 10 and is interested in purchasing the City -owned <br />property at 1629 South William Street (Lot #11). Upon a motion <br />made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, <br />the request was referred to the appropriate City departments and <br />bureaus in order that a determination can be made whether or not <br />the City need retain the above referred to property. <br />REQUEST OF SOUTH BEND PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION CORPORATION TO ERECT <br />A SHELTER AT SAMPLE AND HUMPHREYS COURT - REFERRED <br />Mr. Art Barnes, Assistant General Manager, South Bend Public <br />Transportation Corporation, 901 East Northside Boulevard, P.O. <br />Box 1437, South Bend, Indiana, advised that TRANSPO desires to <br />install a shelter on the Ivy Tech Campus at the intersection of <br />Sample Street and Humphreys Court. Mr. Barnes stated that <br />TRANSPO will handle the installation and provide a concrete <br />foundation. Ivy Tech will maintain the shelter and provide the <br />necessary insurance. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the request was referred <br />to the appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and <br />recommendation. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF OFFICE OF COMMUNITY AFFAIRS FOR FREE PARKING <br />AT MUNICIPAL PARKING GARAGES - MARCH 17 1989 <br />In a Memorandum to the Board, Ms. Mikki Dobski, Director, Office <br />of Community Affairs, requested Board approval to provide free <br />parking at the municipal parking garages on Friday, March 17, <br />1989, for those attending the Notre Dame National Championship <br />Community Celebration at Century Center.
