36 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />FEBRUARY 6, 1989 <br />the actual construction costs are approximately $1.2 million <br />dollars. Mr. Leszczynski further stated that the design work <br />will take approximately one (1) year to complete. <br />Mr. Leszczynski further explained that the cost of this <br />construction will be paid for with state and Federal Aid Urban <br />funds and that the City's contribution to the project is the <br />engineering services fee. <br />Mr. Leszczynski and Mr. Michael P. Meeks, Director, Division of <br />Engineering, discussed with and answered questions of the news <br />media regarding the advantages of computerized signalization <br />indicating that the computer will adjust according to traffic <br />flow. They also noted that this type of computerized <br />signalization is in place on Ireland Road and based on that <br />positive experience this type of system is being expanded to the <br />downtown business district and at a later time to the arterials <br />that lead into downtown South Bend. <br />ADJOURNMENT <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Humphreys and <br />carried, the reconvened meeting of the Board adjourned at 9:53 <br />a.m. <br />John E.
