13 <br />REGULAR MEETING JANUARY 16, 1989 <br />indicating an increase of $14,398.32 and sixteen (16) days to the <br />project. The new Contract amount, including this Change Order, <br />is $3,211,485.32 and the new Contract completion date is May 17, <br />1989. Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Ms. <br />Humphreys and carried, Change Order No. 1 as submitted was <br />approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS TO CONDUCT ANNUAL MARCH <br />FOR LIFE - JANUARY 22, 1989 <br />Mrs. DeClercq advised that the appropriate City departments and <br />bureaus have reviewed the above referred to request submitted to <br />the Board on January 3, 1989 and recommend approval at this time. <br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Ms. Humphreys <br />and carried, the recommendation was accepted and the request <br />approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO CONDUCT MARTIN LUTHER KING DAY MARCH - JANUARY <br />16, 1989 <br />Mrs. DeClercq advised that the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and <br />the Police Department Traffic Division have reviewed a request <br />submitted by Ms. Mikki Dobski, Director, Office of Community <br />Affairs, to conduct the annual March commemorating Martin Luther <br />King on Monday, January 16, 1989 at 1:00 p.m. It was noted that <br />the March will begin at the County -City Building on Jefferson <br />Boulevard and proceed down Jefferson Boulevard to the Century <br />Center. Therefore, upon a motion made by Ms. Humphreys, seconded <br />by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the recommendation was accepted and <br />the request approved. <br />APPROVE APPLICATIONS FOR BIDDER QUALIFICATION <br />Mrs. DeClercq stated that the Affirmative Action Review Committee <br />has advised that after complete review, they have found that the <br />following companies have met the requirements of the South Bend <br />Affirmative Action Ordinance and therefore recommend that they be <br />approved as qualified City bidders: <br />1. Best Equipment Company, Inc. <br />2. Super Auto Salvage Corporation <br />3. Steve and Gene's Auto <br />4. Valley Towing Co. <br />Therefore, upon a motion made by Ms. Humphreys, seconded by Mrs. <br />DeClercq and carried, the recommendation was accepted and the <br />above named companies approved as qualified City bidders. <br />APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES <br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Ms. Humphreys <br />and carried, the following two (2) traffic control devices were <br />approved: <br />1. NEW INSTALLATION: Handicap - two (2) spaces <br />LOCATION: On Colfax at Michigan (north side) <br />2. REVISED TO: Stop Sign - 4 Way Stop <br />LOCATION: Cedar & Niles <br />REMARKS: Upgrading of Niles Avenue - <br />Geometric changes <br />FILING OF ENVIRONMENTAL CLEAN-UP OF LOTS REPORT <br />A report from the Department of Code Enforcement indicating a <br />total of forty-three (43) properties cleaned from December 29, <br />1988 to January 6, 1989, was submitted. Upon a motion made by <br />Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Ms. Humphreys and carried, the report <br />as submitted was filed. <br />
