Marciniak submitted to the Board the
specifications for the 1991 Police Vehicle Fleet and requested
that the Board advertise for the receipt of bids for these
vehicles.
Chief Marciniak noted that the City contemplates purchasing up to
twenty-five (25) vehicles. However, as the number of vehicles to
be purchased depends in part, on the total cost to the City, the
vendor's bid should indicate the cost to the City should it
purchase anywhere from one (1) to twenty-five (25) vehicles,
inclusive. Chief Marciniak further noted that the Police
Department requires the right to split the order between two (2)
or more dealers to allow for a variety of makes and styles as
needed by the Department. The low bid will not be the only
determining factor for the selection of a vendor and for bid
award.
Chief Marciniak advised that all autos must be new cars. No
rentals or demonstrators will be accepted. Any exceptions to the
specifications must be noted by the dealer at the time of
bidding. This
structure has been vacated by the Police Department and there are
no plans to reuse this property by the Police. Ms. Hickey noted
that she has been contacted by a realtor representing a
prospective buyer for the property. Therefore, she recommended
that the Board accept offers for this property from January 4,
1991 until 9:30 a.m. on January 28, 1991. She also recommended
that the lowest bid amount to be considered for acceptance be set
at $24,000.00.
