REGULAR MEETING DECEMBER 17, 1990
415
PRIVILEGE OF THE FLOOR:
COMMENDATION TO THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS
Mr. William Smurr, 916 Greenview, South Bend, Indiana, was
present and advised the Board that he is a citizen of the City of
South Bend and is a retired employee of the City of South Bend.
He stated that he would like to commend the Board on a great job
they have been doing and wished members a Merry Christmas. Board
members thanked Mr. Smurr for his favorable comments.
INQUIRY REGARDING AWARD OF BID FOR STORAGE RACKS AND SHELVING
LOCATED IN THE NATIONAL MILL SUPPLY BUILDING - 1045 WEST SAMPLE
STREET
Mr. John Duncan, National Inventory Reserve, Inc., P.O. Box 4584,
730 Prairie Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, addressed the Board and
inquired as to the status of the bid award for the above referred
to racks and shelving. Mr. Leszczynski apologized to Mr. Duncan
for the Board not having acted on this matter yet but advised Mr.
Duncan that a decision has not yet been reached and that he will
be notified when a decision is made. Mr. Duncan questioned how
the Board could not award to his company since they were the
highest bidder. Board Attorney Jenny Pitts Manier informed Mr.
Duncan that state statutes allow the Board to reject bids that
are not in the best interests of the City.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the Board, upon a
motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and
carried, the meeting adjourned at 10:17 a.m.
5J n E.
