355 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />OCTOBER 29, 1990 <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF CITY AWNING TO INSTALL CANOPY AT 702 E. <br />JEFFERSON BOULEVARD (BELMONT BEVERAGE) <br />Mr. Leszczynski indicated that the appropriate City departments <br />and bureaus have reviewed the above referred to request which was <br />submitted to the Board on October 8, 1990, and approval is <br />recommended. Therefore, Mrs. DeClercq made a motion that the <br />recommendation be accepted and the request be approved. Mr. <br />Leszczynski seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF NEAR WEST SIDE NEIGHBORHOOD ORGANIZATION TO <br />ERECT SIGN ON CITY PROPERTY - N.W CORNER OF WESTERN & CHAPIN <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that on October 1, 1990, the Near West <br />Side Neighborhood Organization submitted a request to place a <br />welcome sign on the northwest corner of Chapin and Western <br />Avenue. The appropriate City departments and bureaus have now <br />reviewed that request and have submitted favorable <br />recommendations. Therefore, Mrs. DeClercq made a motion that the <br />request be approved. Ms. Humphreys seconded the motion which <br />carried. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF ST. JOSEPH HIGH SCHOOL TO CONDUCT WALK-A-THON <br />- NOVEMBER 11, 1990 <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Thomas F. Lewis, Jr., Attorney At <br />Law, Jones, Obenchain, Ford, Pankow & Lewis, 1800 Valley American <br />Bank Building, South Bend, Indiana, requested permission for a <br />Walk-a-Thon on Sunday, November 11, 1990 at 2:00 p.m. sponsored <br />by St. Joseph's High School to raise funds for the benefit of the <br />school. Mr. Lewis noted that the participants will be St. Joseph <br />High School students, teachers, parents, alumni, administrators <br />and members of the school board and it is anticipated that <br />approximately 800 to 1,000 walkers will participate. Submitted <br />with the request was a route to be utilized for this event. <br />Mr. Leszczynski noted that the appropriate City departments and <br />bureaus have reviewed this request and approval is recommended. <br />Therefore, Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the recommendation <br />be accepted and the request be approved. Mrs. DeClercq seconded <br />the motion which carried. <br />REQUEST FOR HANDICAPPED PARKING SPACE - 1345 W. FISHER <br />STREET - REFERRED <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Board is in receipt of a letter <br />from Ms. Leona Nowicki, 1345 West Fisher Street, South Bend, <br />Indiana, requesting that the parking space in front of her <br />residence be designated as a handicapped parking space. <br />Therefore, Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the request be <br />referred to the appropriate City departments and bureaus for <br />review and recommendation. Mrs. DeClercq seconded the motion <br />which carried. <br />APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq <br />and carried, the following four (4) traffic control devices were <br />approved: <br />1. NEW INSTALLATION: ONE WAY SOUTHBOUND <br />LOCATION: Woodward court <br />2. NEW INSTALLATION: STOP SIGN (24X24) <br />LOCATION: Fairfax "T" intersecting, Kings <br />Mill Court, South Lee Court, North <br />Lee Court, North Falls Church, <br />South Jamestown Court, North <br />Jamestown Court <br />
