<br />Ms. Humphreys made a motion that the recommendation be accepted
<br />and the bids be awarded. Mr. Leszczynski seconded the motion
<br />which carried.
<br />APPROVE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACTS:
<br />- IRONWOOD-IRELAND RETENTION BASIN IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT
<br />- WEST BANK LIGHTING II - JEFFERSON SOUTH PROJECT
<br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that in accordance with the bid awarded
<br />on August 20, 1990, to Small, Inc., 25190 State Road 4, North
<br />Liberty, Indiana, in the amount of $325,721.50 for the above
<br />referred to project, a Contract in said amount was being
<br />submitted for Board approval. Upon a motion made by Mr.
<br />Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Humphreys and carried, the Contract
<br />was approved and the appropriate Insurance, Performance Bond and
<br />Labor and Materials Payment Bond as submitted were filed.
<br />Additionally, Mr. Leszczynski advised that in accordance with the
<br />bid awarded on August 20, 1990 to Trans Tech Electric, Inc., P.O.
<br />Box 3915, South Bend, Indiana, in the amount of $55,240.00 for
<br />the West Bank Lighting II - Jefferson South Project, the
<br />appropriate Contract was submitted today for approval. Ms.
<br />Humphreys made a motion that the Contract be approved. Mr.
<br />Leszczynski seconded the motion which carried and the required
<br />Insurance, Performance Bond and Labor and Materials Payment Bond
<br />as submitted by Trans Tech were accepted for filing.
<br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - REMOVAL OF
<br />ASBESTOS FROM STRUCTURES LOCATED AT 1234-1236 WEST WASHINGTON AND
<br />1243 WEST WASHINGTON
<br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Ann E. Kolata, Director,
<br />Redevelopment commission, requested that the Board advertise for
<br />the receipt of bids for the removal of asbestos at the above
<br />locations. Ms. Kolata noted that both of these structures are
<br />owned by the City of South Bend. Mr. Leszczynski made a motion
<br />that the request be approved. Ms. Humphreys seconded the motion
<br />which carried.
<br />REQUESTS REFERRED:
<br />- TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED PROPERTY LOCATED AT 514 WALNUT STREET
<br />Mr. Eugene J. Kowalik, 320 North Brookfield, South Bend,
<br />Indiana, advised that he is the owner of the property located
<br />at 512 Walnut Street which is adjacent to the empty City -owned
<br />lot located at 514 North Walnut and he is interested in
<br />purchasing this property. Mr. Kowalik noted that the lot has
<br />become the dump site for various appliances and is a hiding
<br />place for prowlers.
<br />- TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED PROPERTY LOCATED AT 622 SOUTH RUSH
<br />STREET
<br />Ms. Mable Alford, 628 South Rush Street, South Bend, Indiana,
<br />advised the Board that she is interested in purchasing the City
<br />owned lot located at 622 South Rush Street.
<br />- OF RIVER PARK BUSINESS ASSOCIATION TO CONDUCT PARADE -
<br />SEPTEMBER 15, 1990
<br />Ms. Charmaine Bucher, Membership Committee Person, River Park
<br />Business Association, 2310 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend,
<br />Indiana, submitted to the Board an Application for Use of and
<br />Blocking of Access to Public Right -of -Way for a Party or
<br />Similar Event, requesting permission to conduct a parade on
<br />Saturday, September 15, 1990 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
<br />Ms. Bucher noted that the parade will begin at Nuner
<br />School and then proceed north on 28th Street to Nursery Street,
<br />west on Nursery to 30th Street, north to Mishawaka Avenue, west
