REGULAR MEETING JULY 16, 1990 <br />West, South Bend, Indiana, advised that the Community Resource <br />Center will hold its 5th Annual Retired Senior Volunteer <br />Luncheon on Wednesday, August 8, 1990, at the Marriott Hotel. <br />As in the past, Ms. Seago is requesting that both sides of the <br />100 block of E. Washington Street be reserved for the parking <br />of transportation vehicles in conjunction with this luncheon. <br />She advised that there will be one (1) United Limo Charter and <br />about five (5) to seven (7) JJR vans. She also noted that <br />there are quite a few handicapped senior citizens in the <br />program. <br />- REQUEST OF FIRST AME ZION CHURCH TO CLOSE CAMPEAU STREET, AT <br />EDDY, IN CONJUNCTION WITH FUN FAIR BAZAAR - AUGUST 4, 1990 <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Wendell Preston, Chairman of the <br />Trustee Board, 310 West McKinley Avenue, Suite 330, Mishawaka, <br />Indiana, requested permission to close Campeau Street, at Eddy <br />near the First AME Zion Church, on August 4, 1990, from 9:00 <br />a.m. until dusk, in conjunction with the Church fun fair <br />bazaar. <br />Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the requests be referred to <br />the appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and <br />recommendation. Ms. Humphreys seconded the motion which <br />carried. <br />APPROVE REQUESTS: <br />- REQUEST TO CLOSE UNION AVENUE, BETWEEN SOLOMON AND MAC <br />ARTHUR, FOR NEIGHBORHOOD BLOCK PARTY - AUGUST 12, 1990 <br />- REQUEST OF ST. STEPHEN'S PARISH TO CLOSE MC PHERSON, <br />BETWEEN THOMAS AND NAPIER, IN CONJUNCTION WITH PARISH <br />FESTIVAL - AUGUST 4-5, 1990 <br />- REQUEST OF OUR LADY OF HUNGARY HOME & SCHOOL ASSOCIATION TO <br />CLOSE SOUTH CHAPIN STREET, FROM BRUCE TO CALVERT, IN <br />CONJUNCTION WITH CHURCH FUN FAIR - AUGUST 4, 1990 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the above referred to requests which <br />were submitted to the Board on July 2, 1990 and July 9, 1990, <br />have been reviewed by the appropriate City departments and <br />bureaus and approval is recommended. Therefore, Mr. Leszczynski <br />made a motion that the recommendations be accepted and the <br />requests be approved. Ms. Humphreys seconded the motion which <br />carried. <br />DENY REQUEST OF WOMEN'S ART LEAGUE TO PLACE BANNER ON SKYWALK <br />BETWEEN THE MARRIOTT HOTEL AND CENTURY CENTER <br />Mr. Leszczynski indicated that the above referred to request, <br />which was submitted to the Board on June 11, 1990, has been <br />reviewed by the appropriate City departments and bureaus and <br />denial is recommended by the Legal Department at this time. Mr. <br />Leszczynski noted that pursuant to Section 5(a) of an Agreement <br />entered into on May 1, 1987, installation of such a banner on the <br />skywalk is prohibited. Therefore, Mrs. DeClercq made a motion <br />that the recommendation be accepted and the request be denied. <br />Ms. Humphreys seconded the motion which carried. <br />DENY REQUEST FOR CONSIDERATION OF INSTALLATION OF TRAFFIC CONTROL <br />SIGNAL OR SIGN ON EWING AVENUE AT SOUTH SIDE LITTLE LEAGUE PARK <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the appropriate City departments and <br />bureaus have reviewed the above referred to request and Petition <br />which was submitted to the Board on June 26, 1990, and it is <br />recommended at this time that the request be denied. Mr. <br />Leszczynski noted that a traffic study of the location revealed <br />that the necessary warrants for the installation of either a stop <br />
