202 <br />REGULAR MEETING JUNE 25, 1990 <br />BID: $25,000.00 (includes removal of the equipment) <br />Three (3) Bird Machine Company centrifuges of the <br />standard solid bowl type, size 2411x6011, three (3) <br />Reliance Dutymaster AC motors of seventy-five (75) <br />horsepower each, belt guards and centrifuge discharge <br />chutes. <br />Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the bids be referred to the <br />Division of Environmental Services for review and <br />recommendation. Mrs. DeClercq seconded the motion which carried. <br />AWARD BID - ST. JOSEPH/WAYNE STREET PARKING GARAGE RETAIL SPACE <br />IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT <br />Mr. Michael P. Meeks, Director, Division of Engineering, <br />recommended that the Board award the bid of Majority Builders, <br />Inc., 62900 U.S. 31 South, South Bend, Indiana, for Alternate #1 <br />only in the amount of $102,600.00 for the above referred to <br />project. Mrs. DeClercq made a motion that the recommendation be <br />accepted and the bid be awarded. Mr. Leszczynski seconded the <br />motion which carried. <br />APPROVE CONTRACT FOR CONSULTING SERVICES - SAM MERCANTINI <br />Submitted to the Board for consideration was a Contract for <br />Consulting Services between. Mr. Sam Mercantini and the City of <br />South Bend by and through the Board of Public Works on behalf of <br />the Department of Economic Development. <br />The Contract indicates that the City recognizes the need for <br />professional assistance in the overall operation of its <br />neighborhood business assistance programs and that Mr. Mercantini <br />has the professional expertise and experience needed to <br />effectively carry -out such neighborhood business assistance <br />programs for the City. The Contract, for the term January 1, <br />1990 to and including December 31, 1990, further indicates that <br />Mr. Mercantini shall be compensated in the amount of $24,000.00. <br />Mr. Leszczynski inquired of the possibility of the Board of <br />Public Works receiving reports in regards to the assistance being <br />performed under this Contract. Ms. Marsha Townsend, Department <br />of Economic Development, advised that the Department does receive <br />reports from Mr. Mercantini. Therefore, the Clerk was instructed <br />to request that the Department of Economic Development provide <br />such reports to the Board of Public Works. <br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski <br />and carried, the Contract as submitted was approved and executed. <br />APPROVE AGREEMENT FOR STAFF SUPPORT - NEIGHBORHOOD BUSINESS <br />DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that an Agreement for Staff Support, <br />between the Neighborhood Business Development Corporation and the <br />City, by and through the Board of Public Works on behalf of the <br />Economic Development Department, has been submitted. <br />The Agreement indicates that in order for the NBDC to carry out <br />its purposes and to assist the City in certain economic <br />development and community development projects, staff support is <br />beneficial and necessary. The Agreement, for the term January 1, <br />1990 to and including December 31, 1990, indicates that the NBDC <br />shall provide to the City the sum of $10,000.00 and any further <br />sums to which the City and the NBDC agree are appropriate <br />compensation to the City for staff services provided. <br />Mrs. DeClercq made a motion that the Agreement be approved and <br />executed.
