187 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />JUNE 11, 1990 <br />are available to the walkers throughout the route and therefore <br />there will be no in -street walking. Mr. Murray further stated <br />that it is anticipated that approximately four hundred (400) <br />walkers will participate and all proceeds from the Walk will be <br />used by Hospice in their work among the terminally ill of the <br />county. <br />FOR DESIGNATED HANDICAPPED PARKING SPACE AT 1629 NORTH OLIVE <br />STREET <br />Ms. Karen S. Comer, 1629 North Olive Street, South Bend, <br />Indiana, requested a designated handicapped parking space in <br />front of her home at 1629 North Olive Street. Ms. Comer stated <br />that she is in a wheelchair and has to be able to park in front <br />of her home. Ms. Comer further stated that she lives in the <br />1600 block of North Olive and parking is only allowed on one <br />(1) side of the street. She noted that the parking situation <br />is bad in the neighborhood and whenever there are any visitors <br />in the neighborhood the situation is worse. <br />- FOR DESIGNATED HANDICAPPED PARKING SPACE AT 615 SOUTH 29TH <br />STREET <br />Mr. & Mrs. Richard Czarnecki, 615 South 29th Street, South <br />Bend, Indiana, requested a designated handicapped parking space <br />in front of their residence at 615 South 29th Street. The <br />Czarnecki's noted that they have a small child who is <br />developmentally handicapped and are in the process of utilizing <br />a wheelchair for her. The parking situation in their area is <br />such that they cannot park in front of their residence. <br />OF SOUTH BEND WOMEN'S ART LEAGUE TO PLACE A BANNER ON CROSSWALK <br />BETWEEN THE MARRIOTT HOTEL AND CENTURY CENTER <br />Mrs. Mary Ann Matthews, Garden Walk Chairperson, 1345 East <br />Wayne Street South, South Bend, Indiana, advised that the South <br />Bend Women's Art League is planning a Garden Walk to take place <br />on Wednesday, September 12, 1990 from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. <br />with a rain date the following day. Proceeds of this event <br />will be donated to the South Bend Art Center for children's <br />activities and educational programs. Mrs. Matthews stated that <br />it is their desire to place a well designed banner on the south <br />wall of the skywalk connecting the Marriott Hotel to the <br />Century Center and therefore requests permission to do so. <br />OF OFFICE OF COMMUNITY AFFAIRS - USE OF PARKING GARAGES IN <br />CONJUNCTION WITH ETHNIC FESTIVAL EVENTS <br />Ms. Mikki Dobski, Director, Office of Community Affairs, <br />requested use of approximately eight -five (85) spaces in the <br />Colfax and Wayne Parking garages to accommodate monthly parkers <br />from the Shopper's and Baer's parking lots who will -be <br />displayed by the Ethnic Festival for two (2) days, June 28th <br />and 29th. <br />Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the above referred to requests <br />be referred to the appropriate City departments and bureaus for <br />review and recommendation. Mrs. DeClercq seconded the motion <br />which carried. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - SALE OF <br />ABANDONED VEHICLES <br />Mrs. Patricia E. DeClercq, Director, Department of Code <br />Enforcement, requested permission to advertise for the sale of <br />approximately eleven (11) abandoned vehicles, which are being <br />stored at Super Auto Salvage Corporation, 3300 South Main <br />Street, South Bend, Indiana. It was noted that all vehicles <br />have been stored more than fifteen (15) days, identification <br />checks had been run for auto theft and the owners and lienholders <br />
