162 REGULAR MEETING MAY 14, 1990 REQUEST TO CLOSE HUEY, FROM LINDEN TO SMITH, FOR BLOCK PARTY - JUNE 10, 1990 - REFERRED Ms. Toni Maefield, 2123 West Linden, South Bend, Indiana, submitted to the Board an Application for Use of and Blocking of Access to Public Right -of -Way for a Party or Similar Event, requesting that Huey, from Linden to Smith, be closed on Sunday, June 10, 1990 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. for a block party. Mr. Leszczynski noted that this is an annual request and made a motion that the request be referred to the appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and recommendation. Ms. Humphreys seconded the motion which carried. APPROVE ETHNIC FESTIVAL BOOTH APPLICATIONS Ms. Mikki Dobski, Director, Office of Community Affairs, submitted to the Board her recommendations for food, craft, display and activity booth applications in conjunction with the Ethnic Festival as follows: Food Booths: 41 Craft Booths: 45 Display Booths: 17 Activities: 6 Additionally, twelve (12) food booth applications with modifications were submitted for approval. Total booths as of May 8, 1990: 121 Mrs. DeClercq made a motion that the applications as submitted be approved. Ms. Humphreys seconded the motion which carried. APPROVE REQUEST OF TETZLAFF'S AUCTION SERVICE TO CLOSE 34TH STREET, FROM VINE TO PLEASANT, IN CONJUNCTION WITH ESTATE SALE - MAY 19, 1990 In a letter to the Board, Ms. Debbie Tetzlaff, Tetzlaff's Auction & Realty, 61362 Miami Road, South Bend, Indiana, advised that they have been contracted to conduct a public auction of the estate of Evelyn D. Zimmer at 1005 34th Street. Due to the large amount of personal property and the shortage of yard space, it is requested that 34th Street, from Vine to Pleasant be closed on May 19, 1990 from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Ms. Tetzlaff was present and advised the Board that she has spoken with the neighbors of the area and they have no objection to the street closing. She reiterated that due to the lack of yard space and the large amount of personal property to be auctioned, it is imperative that they be allowed to utilize the street in order to adequately liquidate the property. Due to the fact that this auction will take place on Saturday and the request has just recently been received by the Board, Mrs. DeClercq made a motion that the request be approved subject to coordination and approval by the Police Department and the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting. Ms. Humphreys seconded the motion which carried. Mr. Leszczynski advised Ms. Tetzlaff that the street is not to be utilized for the sale of any type of food products but solely to facilitate the disposal of personal property at the auction. Ms. Tetzlaff assured Mr. Leszczynski that the street will not be used by vendors for the sale of any type of food products. APPROVE CONTRACTORS BONDS Mr. Michael P. Meeks, Director, Division of Engineering, recommended that the following Contractors Bonds be approved: 1 1 1 - Barry Gerard Effective 5/14/90 - Bela Ban, Jr. Effective 5/14/90
