130 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />APRIL 16, 1990 <br />as shown on the plat of the subdivision. <br />In order to clear title, Auto -Owners is requesting that the City <br />relinquish its right to that portion of the Easement in which the <br />encroachment lies, if there are no facilities in that portion of <br />the easement. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by <br />Ms. Humphreys and carried, the request was referred to the <br />necessary departments and bureaus for review and recommendation. <br />REQUEST OF MICHIANA BICYCLE ASSOCIATION TO CONDUCT 20K BICYCLE <br />TIME TRIAL - MAY 19, 1990 - REFERRED <br />Mr. Kevin R. Norton, Vice-President/Publications, Michiana <br />Bicycle Association, Inc., P.O. Box 182, Granger, Indiana advised <br />that on Saturday, May 19, 1990, the Michiana Bicycle Association <br />is planning on conducting a 20K bicycle time trial from the U.S. <br />Army Reserve Center on Kenmore Street in South Bend. They are <br />therefore requesting permission to conduct this event on the City <br />streets. <br />Mr. Norton noted that the route will begin on Old Cleveland Road <br />from the corner of Kenmore Street west to Primrose Road, then <br />proceed on Primrose Road from the corner of Old Cleveland road <br />north to Auten Road, Auten Road from the corner of Primrose Road <br />for 100 yards and then return and retrace the route back to the <br />U.S. Army Reserve Center on Kenmore. The event will start at <br />9:00 a.m. and continue until approximately 12:00 noon or until <br />all riders have completed the course. <br />Mr. Norton further noted that it is planned that they will have <br />one member of the MBA at each intersection to monitor traffic and <br />the riders. They will also have a roving vehicle which will <br />monitor the course for unsafe conditions. It is requested that <br />the intersections along the route be controlled by the local law <br />enforcement agency. Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the <br />request be referred to the appropriate City departments and <br />bureaus for review and recommendation. Ms. Humphreys seconded <br />the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS - SALE OF <br />ABANDONED VEHICLES <br />Mrs. Patricia E. DeClercq, Director, Department of Code <br />Enforcement, requested permission to advertise for the sale of <br />approximately fourteen (14) abandoned vehicles, which are being <br />stored at Super Auto Salvage Corporation, 3300 South Main Street, <br />South Bend, Indiana. It was noted that all vehicles have been <br />stored more than fifteen (15) days, identification checks had <br />been run for auto theft and the owners and lienholders notified. <br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Ms. Humphreys <br />and carried, the above request was approved and a date of April <br />30, 1990, was established for the receiving and opening <br />of sealed bids. <br />RESCIND AWARD OF BID AND APPROVE <br />RECEIPT OF BIDS - ONE <br />TO READVERTISE FOR THE <br />EMISSION SPECTROMETER <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. John Dillon, Director, <br />Environmental Services, recommended that the Board rescind the <br />bid award of February 26, 1990 to Perkin-Elmer Corporation, 9855 <br />Crosspoint Blvd., Indianapolis, Indiana, for one (1) atomic <br />absorption/emission spectrometer and grant permission to <br />re -advertise for the receipt of bids for this spectrometer which <br />will be used for the benefit of the Wastewater Treatment Plant. <br />Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the bid previously awarded on <br />February 26, 1990 to Perkin Elmer be rescinded and the request to <br />readvertise be approved.
