122 <br />REGULAR MEETING APRIL 9, 1990 <br />she is requesting permission to conduct the annual Walk on <br />Sunday, October 7, 1990 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Ms. Cox <br />submitted with the request the route to be utilized for the <br />Walk. <br />OF MADISON HOME SCHOOL ORGANIZATION TO CLOSE PARK LANE, FROM <br />LAFAYETTE TO MAIN STREET IN CONJUNCTION WITH ICE CREAM SOCIAL <br />- MAY 18, 1990 <br />Ms. Katie Carter, Madison Home School Organization, 832 North <br />Lafayette Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana, submitted to the <br />Board an Application for Use of and Blocking of Access to <br />Public Right -of -Way for a Party or Similar Event requesting <br />that Park Lane, from Lafayette Boulevard to Main Street, be <br />closed on Friday, May 18, 1990 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in <br />conjunction with an Ice Cream Social that will be held in <br />Leeper Park. <br />OF VERKLER CONTRACTOR, INC. TO TEMPORARILY ERECT SECURITY <br />GATES ACROSS LAUREL COURT <br />Mr. David A. Mankowski, Vice -President, Special Projects <br />Division, Verkler Contractor, Inc., P.O. Box 3608, 645 North <br />Wilber Street, South Bend, Indiana, requested permission to <br />erect temporary security gates across Laurel Court. Mr. <br />Mankowski noted that Verkler Contractor, Inc., has been <br />contracted to remodel forty-two (42) apartment units for the <br />South Bend Housing Authority on property at Laurel Street and <br />Laurel Court. In an attempt to deter vandalism, break-ins and <br />robberies during construction, they have requested permission <br />to erect a temporary security gate across Laurel Court. This <br />gate will be open during normal working hours Monday through <br />Friday and upon completion of the work, the gate will be <br />removed. Mr. Mankowski noted that none of the units under <br />construction are occupied. <br />OF WEST SIDE MEMORIAL COMMITTEE TO CONDUCT WEST SIDE MEMORIAL <br />DAY PARADE - MAY 28, 1990 <br />Ms. Adeline Jaskowiak, Secretary, West Side Memorial Committee, <br />South Bend, Indiana, submitted a letter to the Board indicating <br />that the West Side Memorial Day Committee is requesting <br />permission to conduct the annual Memorial Day Parade on Monday, <br />May 28, 1990. Ms. Jaskowiak noted that the parade will <br />assemble at 8:00 a.m. at Olive and Ford Street and begin at <br />8:30 a.m. proceeding west on Ford Street where they will <br />disband at Summit Drive. She further noted that the parade <br />will last approximately one and one-half (1 1/2) hours. <br />OF FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE TO PROHIBIT PARKING ON BOTH SIDES <br />OF THE 100 BLOCK OF SOUTH MAIN STREET AND SOUTH CURB LINE OF <br />200 BLOCK OF WEST WASHINGTON STREET IN CONJUNCTION WITH <br />MEMORIAL CEREMONY - MAY 15 1990 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Board is in receipt of a <br />letter from the Fraternal Order of Police, South Bend Lodge No. <br />36, P.O. Box 299, South Bend, Indiana, which has been submitted <br />by Edward I. Friend, Lodge Member, Cynthia Eastman, Secretary <br />and Douglas Radican, President. The letter advised that on <br />Tuesday, May 15, 1990, the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 36 <br />and Lodge 91 of Mishawaka and Lodge 155 of St. Joseph County <br />will hold a combined memorial ceremony in honor of officers who <br />have died in the line of duty in our county and cities in St. <br />Joseph County, Indiana beginning at 1:30 p.m. Therefore, in <br />conjunction with this event, it is requested that parking of <br />civilian vehicles be prohibited on both sides of the 100 block <br />of South Main Street so that they can place police vehicles at <br />both curb lines during the ceremony.
