N <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />MARCH 26, 1990 <br />Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the request be approved. Mrs. <br />DeClercq seconded the motion which carried. <br />REQUEST OF VIETNAM VETERANS OF AMERICA TO CONDUCT PRISONER OF <br />WAR, MISSING IN ACTION, HOSTAGE FREEDOM MARCH - AUGUST 4. 1990 - <br />REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Brenda Frye, Secretary, Chapter <br />#442, Vietnam Veterans of America, 245 Sorin Street, Niles, <br />Michigan, advised that again this year the Vietnam Veterans of <br />America Chapter #442 is planning a Prisoner of War, Missing in <br />Action, Hostage Freedom March to be held on Saturday, August 4, <br />1990. <br />Ms. Frye advised that the March will begin at the Michigan <br />stateline south of Niles and continue down Dixie Way south to <br />Navarre Street. At Navarre they will turn right (west) on <br />Navarre to Main Street. Once on Main they will head south to <br />Western Avenue. Turning left (east) on Western they will follow <br />Western around to Jefferson continuing about two (2) blocks to <br />the entrance of Howard Park. The March is scheduled to begin at <br />8:30 a.m. Indiana time and end at 11:00 a.m. in Howard Park at <br />the site of the Vietnam Veterans memorial. <br />Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the request be referred to the <br />appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and <br />recommendation. Ms. Humphreys seconded the motion which carried. <br />REQUEST OF ST. JOE VALLEY WATERCOLOR SOCIETY FOR CHANGE IN STREET <br />DESIGNATIONS IN CONJUNCTION WITH LEEPER PARK ART FAIR - JUNE <br />16-17, 1990 - REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Miriam Wittkopf, Chairman, St. Joe <br />Valley Watercolor Society, 16520 Bennington Court, Granger, <br />Indiana, advised that the St. Joe Valley Watercolor Society, <br />sponsor of the Leeper Park Art Fair, is requesting assistance to <br />ease the traffic congestion on the days of the fair. Therefore, <br />they are requesting that Riverside Drive bordering on the north <br />side of Leeper Park be made one-way west. Also, that Park Lane, <br />bordering on the south side of Leeper Park be made one-way east. <br />Additionally, Ms. Wittkopf noted that it would be helpful if one <br />(1) side of Riverside Drive and one (1) side of Park Lane could <br />be posted with No Parking signs which would result in parking on <br />only one (1) side of each of those streets. <br />Ms. Wittkopf also requested assistance from the Civil Defense <br />police for security of the paraphernalia belonging to the artists <br />which would remain in the park overnight. <br />Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the request be referred to the <br />appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and <br />recommendation. Ms. Humphreys seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE CONTRACTORS AND EXCAVATION BONDS <br />Mr. Michael P. Meeks, Director, Division of Engineering, <br />recommended that the following Contractors and Excavation Bonds <br />be approved: <br />CONTRACTOR'S BOND <br />- Network Field Services, Inc. Eff. 3/13/90 <br />EXCAVATION BOND <br />- Network Field Services, Inc. Eff. 3/15/90 <br />Mrs. DeClercq made a motion that the recommendations be accepted <br />and the bonds be approved. Ms. Humphreys seconded the motion <br />which carried. <br />
