REGULAR MEETING <br />RE <br />MARCH 19, 1990 <br />ADOPT RESOLUTION NO. 8-1990 - SCRAP METAL/JUNK DEALERS/TRANSFER <br />STATIONS LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATIONS FOR THE YEAR 1990 <br />Mrs. DeClercq indicated that the Resolution submitted today for <br />adoption is in regards to license applications received from <br />scrap yards that operate in the City. She noted that pursuant to <br />ordinance requirements, before a license can be issued, <br />inspections of the premises are conducted by the Fire Department <br />and the Department of Code Enforcement. The recommendations of <br />these departments are submitted to the Board of Public Works for <br />consideration in the adoption of its Resolution which is sent to <br />the Common Council. Mrs. DeClercq read the list of applicants as <br />indicated on the Resolution who were found to be in compliance <br />with ordinance requirements and noted that the Common Council has <br />final action on the license applications. Therefore, Ms. <br />Humphreys made a motion that the following Resolution No. 8-1990 <br />be adopted and that a favorable recommendation be sent to the <br />Common Council concerning these license applications. Mrs. <br />DeClercq seconded the motion which carried, and the following <br />Resolution was adopted: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 8-1990 <br />WHEREAS, scrap metal/junk dealers/transfer stations license <br />renewal applications for the year 1990 have been received by the <br />Board of Public Works; and <br />WHEREAS, inspections of the properties have been completed <br />by the Department of Code Enforcement and the Fire Prevention <br />Bureau as required by Chapter 4, Article 4, Section 4-51 of the <br />Municipal Code; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Code Enforcement and the Fire <br />Prevention Bureau have found that such premises are fit and <br />proper for the maintenance and operation of such businesses; and <br />WHEREAS, Chapter 4, Article 4, Section 4-51 of the Municipal <br />Code requires adoption of a Resolution of the Board of Public <br />Works recommending the renewal of the license applications. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Public Works <br />of the City of South Bend, Indiana, that the license renewal <br />applications for the following be recommended favorably based <br />upon the satisfactory review of the properties by the Department <br />of Code Enforcement and the Fire Prevention Bureau: <br />.A-1 Auto Parts <br />2014 <br />S. <br />Lafayette Blvd. <br />Hurwich Iron Company, Inc. <br />1610 <br />Circle Ave. <br />Hurwich Iron Company, Inc. <br />2016 <br />W. <br />Washington Ave. <br />North Side Iron & Paper Company <br />3123 <br />S. <br />Gertrude St. <br />South Bend Baling & Iron Company <br />1420 <br />S. <br />Walnut St. <br />South Bend Iron & Metal Company <br />429 <br />W. <br />Indiana Ave. <br />South Bend Scrap & Processing Division 3114 <br />S. <br />Gertrude St. <br />South Bend Waste Paper Company <br />1519 <br />S. <br />Franklin St. <br />Steve & Gene's Auto Truck Salvage <br />3109 <br />S. <br />Gertrude St. <br />Super Auto Salvage Corporation <br />3300 <br />S. <br />Main St. <br />Weaver Truck & Equipment Company <br />Western Avenue Iron & Metal Company <br />3700 <br />3123 <br />S. <br />S. <br />Gertrude St. <br />Gertrude St. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution <br />shall be <br />submitted to the Common Council for its <br />consideration <br />and <br />adoption of an appropriate Resolution. <br />DATED this 19th day of March, 1990. <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />s/Patricia E.
