9+~+ a <br />V 'v <br />REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 16.2007 <br />RESCIND SPECIAL POLICE COMMISSIONS <br />In a letter to the Board, Chief Fautz recommends the Special Police commissions for the <br />following individuals be rescinded: <br />- Tom Anderson <br />- Tammy Roberts <br />- Carol Vandewalle <br />A Special Police Commission is no longer necessary for these individuals as they have ' <br />resigned. Upon a motion by Mr. BonDurant, seconded by Ms. Dempsey and carried, the <br />Special Police Commissions were rescinded. <br />APPROVE REQUEST FOR EXTENDED MEDICAL LEAVE -JOHN COLLINS JR <br />In a letter to the Board, Chief Fautz requested Lieutenant John Collins Jr. be granted a <br />paid, extended medical leave of twenty (20) calendar days from July 31, 2007 to August <br />19, 2007, due to surgery. Upon a motion by Mr. BonDurant, seconded by Ms. Dempsey <br />and carried, the paid medical leave was approved as outlined above. <br />ACCEPT RECOMMENDATION FOR EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH -MAY 2007 - <br />SERGEANT JUAN LORA <br />In a letter to the Board, Chief Fautz stated that Sergeant Juan Lora was selected as <br />Employee of the Month for May 2007. The award is to recognize officers, civilian <br />employees, on the South Bend Police Department who have demonstrated actions noted <br />by supervisors or citizens from both a professional law enforcement position and in <br />support of the community policing efforts with citizens of South Bend. Chief Fautz <br />noted that his fellow officers nominated Sergeant Lora for this award. There being no <br />further discussion, the recommendation was accepted and filed. <br />ACCEPT RECOMMENDATION FOR EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH -JUNE 2007 - <br />SERGEANT MICHAEL CRITCHLOW , <br />In a letter to the Board, Chief Fautz stated that Sergeant Michael Critchlow was selected <br />as Employee of the Month for June 2007. The award is to recognize officers, civilian <br />employees, on the South Bend Police Department who have demonstrated actions noted <br />by supervisors or citizens from both a professional law enforcement position and in <br />support of the community policing efforts with citizens of South Bend. Sergeant <br />Critchlow was praised for his efforts, on his own personal time, in solving larceny cases <br />from several cemeteries. There being no further discussion, the recommendation was <br />accepted and filed. <br />FILING OF QUARTERLY REPORT FOR SPECIALIZED TRAINING -APRIL <br />THROUGH JUNE 2007 <br />Captain Wanda Shock, Director of Training, South Bend Police Department, submitted to <br />the Board a written Quarterly Report for Specialized Training for the period of April <br />through June 2007. The report indicated the specialized training attended, the names of <br />the officers who attended and the costs involved. There being no questions concerning <br />this report, the Quarterly Report for Specialized Training as submitted was accepted and <br />filed. <br />ACCEPT AND FILE DONATIONS TO SOUTH BEND POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />In a letter to the Board, Chief Fautz advised the South Bend Police Department received <br />generous donations from the following organizations: <br />The River Park Nei hborhood Association $50.00 <br />The COP Leadershi Council $100.00 <br />T.R.I.A.D. of St. Jose h Count $50.00 <br />1 <br />Most of the money will be used to pay expenses associated with the National Night Out <br />event. Division Chief Kilgore stated the donations are very much appreciated. There <br />being no objections, the donations were accepted and filed. <br />
