Martin, Cl rk <br />REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 16.2007 <br />The Board of Public Safety met in the regular meeting at 9:15 a.m. on Thursday, August <br />16, 2007, with Board Members Donald Alford, Juanita Dempsey, and Bruce J. <br />BonDurant present. Board President Jesusa Rodriguez and Member Patrick Cottrell were <br />not present. Also present were Police Division Chief Richard Kilgore, Fire Chief <br />Howard Buchanon and Board Attorney Thomas Bodnar. <br />. The meeting was held in the Board of Public Works Meeting Room, 13th Floor, County <br />City Building, South Bend, Indiana. <br />APPROVE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETINGS <br />Reverend Alford stated if there were no objections by members of the Board, the minutes <br />of the Public Agenda Session, Executive Session, and Regular Meetings of the Board <br />held on July 18, 2007 and the Special Meeting of August 10, 2007 be accepted with noted <br />corrections. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />APPROVE REQUEST FOR SPECIAL COMMISSIONS <br />In a letter to the Board, Chief Fautz recommends that Special Police Commissions be issued <br />for the following individuals for the Department of Code Enforcement: <br />- William Bare <br />Animal Control Officer: <br />- Brian Walters <br />These Commissions are issued for the purpose of writing citations for Ordinance violations <br />' where such violations have fines set by Superior Court Judges. These Commissions will also <br />empower the above-listed individuals to enforce the Snow Route and Residential Snow <br />Emergencies and to tow vehicles found to be in violation of these Ordinances. These <br />Commissions also include Animal Control officers who issue tickets for nuisance violations. <br />These Commissions do not authorize the powers of arrest nor the carrying or use of a <br />weapon. Upon a motion by Mr. BonDurant, seconded by Ms. Dempsey and carried, the <br />Special Police Commissions were approved <br />
