306 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />SEPTEMBER 16, 1991 <br />Division of Engineering, advised that he has reviewed the bids <br />received on September 9, 1991, for the above referred to project <br />and recommends that the Board award the low bid of LaPorte <br />Construction Company, Inc., P.O. Box 577, LaPorte, Indiana, in <br />the amount of $52,342.22 for the above referred to project. Mrs. <br />DeClercq made a motion that the recommendation be accepted and <br />the bid be awarded. Mr. Leszczynski seconded the motion which <br />carried. <br />REQUESTS REFERRED: <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Humphreys <br />and carried, the following requests were referred to the <br />appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and <br />recommendation: <br />- FOR DESIGNATED HANDICAPPED PARKING SPACE AT 1509 WEST DUNHAM <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Stephen Brzezinski, 1508 West <br />Dunham .Street, South Bend, Indiana, advised that he is a <br />paraplegic and has difficulty in parking in front of his <br />residence and he therefore requested that the parking place <br />in front of his neighbor's residence at 1509 West Dunham, be <br />designated as a handicapped parking space for his use. <br />r TO CLOSE NAVARRE, FROM ST. JOSEPH TO RIVERSIDE, FOR <br />NEIGHBORHOOD BLOCK PARTY - SEPTEMBER 28, 1991 <br />Ms. Catherine D. Hostetler, N.N.N. Board Member, Near <br />Northwest Neighborhood District #1, 708 North St. Joseph <br />Street, South Bend, Indiana, submitted an Application for Use <br />of and Blocking of Access to Public Right -of -Way for a Party <br />or Similar Event, requesting that the 200 block of Navarre, <br />from North St. Joseph to Riverside Drive, be closed on <br />,Saturday, September 28, 1991, with a rain date of October 5, <br />1991, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for a neighborhood block <br />party. <br />,- OF OVERHEAD PROTECTION, INC. TO INSTALL CANOPY AT 320 W. <br />JEFFERSON BOULEVARD <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Beare C. Philipson, President, <br />Overhead Protection, Inc., 1700 Union Street, Mishawaka, <br />Indiana, requested permission to install a sidewalk canopy <br />over the public right-of-way at 320 West Jefferson Boulevard <br />for New Wings of Faith Church. Mr. Philipson stated that the <br />canopy will be thirteen feet (131) eight inches (8") wide and <br />will project out from the building thirteen feet (131) with <br />support posts set back two feet (21) from curbing. The <br />canopy will be a welded aluminum frame with vinyl cover <br />bolted to the sides of the building entrance alcove. Support <br />posts are two and one-half inch (2 1/2") aluminum tubing with <br />eight inch (8") plates bolted to the sidewalk. <br />- OF CITIZENS ACTION COALITION OF INDIANA TO CONDUCT MARCH - <br />EPTEMBER 24 1991 <br />s. Jewel Van Dalsen, Organizer, Citizens Action Coalition of <br />Indiana, 108 North Main Street, #523, South Bend, Indiana, <br />requested permission to conduct a March on September 24, 1991 <br />beginning at 10:30 a.m. Ms. VanDalsen noted that <br />approximately twenty (20) individuals will participate in the <br />March which will begin at the corner of Main and Washington <br />Streets then proceed to St. Joseph Street and then down <br />Business U.S. 31 to Leeper Park. <br />1 <br />�l <br />
