REGULAR MEETING <br />SEPTEMBER 9. 1991 <br />animals. Ms. Hildabridle indicated that she would like to <br />hold the 1OK Walk on Sunday, September 29, 1991 at 12:00 noon <br />assembling and finishing at Pinhook Park. 'The Walk route <br />will take participants along Riverside Drive to Michigan <br />Street and back to Pinhook Park. It is anticipated that the <br />walk will take approximately four (4) hours to complete and <br />it is estimated that fifteen (15) to twenty (20) people will <br />participate. <br />- FOR DESIGNATED HANDICAP PARKING SPACE AT 315 CHESTNUT <br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Mary Ann McFarlin, 315 Chestnut <br />Street, South Bend, Indiana, requested that the parking space <br />in front of her residence be designated as a handicapped <br />parking space so her daughter and access bus have a space <br />available when they need to take her places. <br />APPROVE REOUEST TO CLOSE MONROE STREET. FROM SUNNYSIDE TO <br />TWYCKENHAM, FOR NEIGHBORHOOD BLOCK PARTY - SEPTEMBER 14, 1991 <br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Rosemary Rowland, Monroe Street <br />Planning Committee, 1416 East Monroe Street, South Bend, Indiana, <br />advised that the Monroe Street Block Party Planning Committee <br />would like to close the 1300 and 1400 blocks of East Monroe <br />Street, from Sunnyside to Twyckenham, for their annual block <br />party to be held on September 14, 1991 from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 <br />p.m. Mr. Leszczynski noted that the appropriate City departments <br />and bureaus have reviewed this request and approval is <br />recommended. Therefore, Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the <br />request be approved. Ms. Humphreys seconded the motion which <br />carried. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF RESCUE 911 TV SHOW TO UTILIZE PUBLIC STREETS <br />FOR RE-ENACTMENT OF RESCUE SCENE - SEPTEMBER 15-18, 1991 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Board has been informed that <br />Katy Film Productions/Arnold Shapiro Productions, 1438 North <br />Gower Avenue, Box 53, Hollywood, California, producers of the <br />television show Rescue 911, would like to film a rescue scene in <br />downtown South Bend. <br />Mr. Leszczynski noted that the film crews for Rescue 911 are <br />planning to be in South Bend from September 15-18, 1991 filming a <br />segment for television. In conjunction with this filming, it has <br />been requested that traffic control/detours be provided and that <br />that two (2) intersections in downtown South Bend be made <br />available for the filming. <br />Mr. Leszczynski noted that Rescue 911 will be re-enacting a scene <br />of an accident that took place on July 20, 1989 at 9:30 a.m. at <br />the intersection of St. Joseph and Wayne Streets involving an <br />ambulance that was hit and which rolled over with a heart attack <br />victim trapped inside. <br />Mr. Leszczynski noted that various City departments and bureaus <br />have reviewed this request and recommend approval. Therefore, <br />Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the request be approved. Ms. <br />Humphreys seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF UNITED COMMUNITY AGAINST DRUG AND ALCOHOL <br />ABUSE TO CONDUCT RED RIBBON DAY MARCH - OCTOBER 25, 1991 <br />Mr. Leszczynski indicated that the appropriate City departments <br />and bureaus have reviewed the above referred to request which was <br />submitted to the Board on August 19, 1991, and approval is <br />recommended. Therefore, Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the <br />request be approved. Ms. Humphreys seconded the motion which <br />carried. <br />
