REGULAR MEETING MAY 28, 1991 OF SESQUICENTENNIAL COMMITTEE OF UNIVERSITY OF NOTRE DAME TO CONDUCT PARADE - NOVEMBER 1, 1991 Ms. Jill A. Saenger, Sesquicentennial Committee, University of Notre Dame, 202 Main Building, Notre Dame, Indiana, advised the Board that the 1991-1992 academic year marks the 150th anniversary of the University of Notre Dame. The Sesquicentennial Committee is planning many activities and events to celebrate the year. A first annual homecoming weekend is planned for November 1-3, 1991. Invitations to and information about the weekend have been sent to thousands of alumnae. As a part of this weekend, they would like to host a parade for the South Bend community sponsored by the University on Friday, November 1, 1991 at 3:00 p.m. The dormitories and other organizations on campus are putting together different entries for the parade and it is hoped that the community will also participate. Ms. Saenger noted that the staging for the parade will be at or near the Goodwill Plaza on the corner of Eddy and Howard Streets. The parade would head west on Howard to Notre Dame Avenue, then north on Notre Dame Avenue to the campus. The parade will end up at the Notre Dame Stadium where a pep rally for Saturday's football game will immediately follow. TO CLOSE 1100 WEST NAPIER AND MC PHERSON FROM THE ALLEY AT 1120 WEST_NAPIER, FOR BACK -TO -SCHOOL BLOCK PARTY - AUGUST 24, 1991 Tino & Sharon Terrell, 1106 West Napier, South Bend, Indiana, submitted an Application for Use of And Blocking of Access to Public Right -of -Way for a Party or Similar Event, requesting that 1100 West Napier and McPherson from the alley at 1120 West Napier, be closed for a back -to -school block party to be held on Saturday, August 24, 1991 from 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m. OF AWNINGS UNLIMITED, INC. TO INSTALL AWNING AT NIPSCO. 307 NORTH MICHIGAN STREET Ms. Diane Harvell, Awnings Unlimited, Inc., 57299 DeCamp Boulevard, Elkhart, Indiana, requested approval for the installation of a fifty-eight foot (581) awning to be installed at NIPSCO at 307 North Michigan Street, South Bend, Indiana. Submitted with the request was a sketch indicating the exact size and dimensions of the awning. OF LOCAL YOUTH DEPARTMENT I.B.P.O.E. OF W. TO CONDUCT MARCH - JUNE 8, 1991 Ms. Bernice Freeman, Local Youth Directress, Local Youth Department, I.B.P.O.E. of W., 1609 North Huey Street, South Bend, Indiana, advised that the weekend of June 7-9, 1991 is being desingated as "Youth Explosion" weekend. Activities are being planned by New Wings of Faith Church's Heroes Camp located at 320 West Jefferson Street. The LaSalle Landing Lodge #298 and Pride of South Bend Temple *264 Order of the Elk's Youth Department will be participating in the events on the weekend. To show support they are planning a March on Saturday, June 8, 1991. The participants will assemble in the parking lot of the Elk's Landing Lodge, 1001 Western Avenue at 11:30 a.m. and the March will begin promptly at 12:00 p.m. Participants will walk on the sidewalks heading left on Laurel Street to West Washington to the Century Center where a program has been scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. It is anticipated that five hundred (500) individuals will participate in the March.
