REGULAR MEETING <br />MAY 28, 1991 <br />OF SESQUICENTENNIAL COMMITTEE OF UNIVERSITY OF NOTRE DAME TO <br />CONDUCT PARADE - NOVEMBER 1, 1991 <br />Ms. Jill A. Saenger, Sesquicentennial Committee, University <br />of Notre Dame, 202 Main Building, Notre Dame, Indiana, <br />advised the Board that the 1991-1992 academic year marks the <br />150th anniversary of the University of Notre Dame. The <br />Sesquicentennial Committee is planning many activities and <br />events to celebrate the year. A first annual homecoming <br />weekend is planned for November 1-3, 1991. Invitations to <br />and information about the weekend have been sent to thousands <br />of alumnae. <br />As a part of this weekend, they would like to host a parade <br />for the South Bend community sponsored by the University on <br />Friday, November 1, 1991 at 3:00 p.m. The dormitories and <br />other organizations on campus are putting together different <br />entries for the parade and it is hoped that the community <br />will also participate. Ms. Saenger noted that the staging <br />for the parade will be at or near the Goodwill Plaza on the <br />corner of Eddy and Howard Streets. The parade would head <br />west on Howard to Notre Dame Avenue, then north on Notre Dame <br />Avenue to the campus. The parade will end up at the Notre <br />Dame Stadium where a pep rally for Saturday's football game <br />will immediately follow. <br />TO CLOSE 1100 WEST NAPIER AND MC PHERSON FROM THE ALLEY AT <br />1120 WEST_NAPIER, FOR BACK -TO -SCHOOL BLOCK PARTY - AUGUST 24, <br />1991 <br />Tino & Sharon Terrell, 1106 West Napier, South Bend, Indiana, <br />submitted an Application for Use of And Blocking of Access to <br />Public Right -of -Way for a Party or Similar Event, requesting <br />that 1100 West Napier and McPherson from the alley at 1120 <br />West Napier, be closed for a back -to -school block party to be <br />held on Saturday, August 24, 1991 from 12:00 noon to 8:00 <br />p.m. <br />OF AWNINGS UNLIMITED, INC. TO INSTALL AWNING AT NIPSCO. <br />307 NORTH MICHIGAN STREET <br />Ms. Diane Harvell, Awnings Unlimited, Inc., 57299 DeCamp <br />Boulevard, Elkhart, Indiana, requested approval for the <br />installation of a fifty-eight foot (581) awning to be <br />installed at NIPSCO at 307 North Michigan Street, South Bend, <br />Indiana. Submitted with the request was a sketch indicating <br />the exact size and dimensions of the awning. <br />OF LOCAL YOUTH DEPARTMENT I.B.P.O.E. OF W. TO CONDUCT MARCH - <br />JUNE 8, 1991 <br />Ms. Bernice Freeman, Local Youth Directress, Local Youth <br />Department, I.B.P.O.E. of W., 1609 North Huey Street, South <br />Bend, Indiana, advised that the weekend of June 7-9, 1991 is <br />being desingated as "Youth Explosion" weekend. Activities <br />are being planned by New Wings of Faith Church's Heroes Camp <br />located at 320 West Jefferson Street. The LaSalle Landing <br />Lodge #298 and Pride of South Bend Temple *264 Order of the <br />Elk's Youth Department will be participating in the events on <br />the weekend. <br />To show support they are planning a March on Saturday, June <br />8, 1991. The participants will assemble in the parking lot <br />of the Elk's Landing Lodge, 1001 Western Avenue at 11:30 a.m. <br />and the March will begin promptly at 12:00 p.m. Participants <br />will walk on the sidewalks heading left on Laurel Street to <br />West Washington to the Century Center where a program has <br />been scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. It is anticipated that <br />five hundred (500) individuals will participate in the March. <br />
