IM <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />MAY 28, 1991 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 28, 1991, by Board President John E. <br />Leszczynski. Also present was Board member Patricia E. DeClercq <br />and Board Attorney Jenny Pitts Manier. Board Member Katherine <br />Humphreys was not in attendance. <br />APPROVE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING <br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq,'seconded by Mr. Leszczynski <br />and carried, the minutes of the regular meetings of the Board <br />held on May 13, 1991 and May 20, 1991, were approved. <br />AGENDA ITEMS ADDED/STRICKEN <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq <br />.and carried, the following items were added to the agenda: <br />1. Invoke emergency powers of the Board to authorize <br />repairs at Bendix/Sugar Maple Lane <br />2. Award bid for repairs - Robertson's building <br />Additionally, upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by <br />Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the following items were stricken from <br />the agenda at this time: <br />1. Request of the Redevelopment Commission to have the Board <br />of Public Works act as Agent regarding small scale <br />asbestos abatement and demolition - Studebaker Corridor <br />2. Request to advertise for the receipt of bids for asbestos <br />abatement and demolition - Studebaker Corridor <br />APPROVE INVOKING EMERGE. <br />BENDIX/SUGAR MAPLE LANE <br />OF THE BOARD FOR REPAIRS <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that over the weekend some pavement sunk <br />in the vicinity of Bendix/Sugar Maple Lane. Therefore, Mr. <br />Leszczynski made a motion that the Board invoke its emergency <br />powers and authorize the solicitation of quotations for the <br />repair to the pavement at that location. Mrs. DeClercq seconded <br />the motion which carried. <br />AWARD BID - EMERGENCY REPAIRS TO ROBERTSON'S BUILDING <br />It is noted that on May 6, 1991, pursuant to the request of the <br />Department of Economic Development, the Board of Public Works <br />declared that an emergency existed in that portions of the <br />exterior wall of the Robertson's Building were falling off. <br />Pursuant to that designation, the Deparment of Economic <br />Development, has solicited and received Quotations from Midland <br />Engineering Company, 52369 U.S. 33 North, P.O. Box 1019, South <br />Bend, Indiana, in the amount of $14,325.00 and from Slatile <br />1toofing and Sheet Metal Company, Inc., in the amount of <br />$4,955.00. <br />At this time, the Department recommends that the Board, as agent <br />for Redevelopment, award the contract to Slatile at the low bid <br />of $4,955.00. Therefore, Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the <br />bid be awarded to Slatile as recommended. Mrs. DeClercq seconded <br />the motion which carried. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - THREE (3) TRANSPORT 40 TRACK MAGNETIC TAPE <br />RECORDER/REPRODUCERS AND ONE (1) PORTABLE COMPANION 40 TRACK <br />REPRODUCER UNIT FOR THE CITY'S COMMUNICATION SYSTEM <br />This was the date set for receiving and opening of sealed bids <br />for the above referred to equipment.
