124 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />APRIL 22, 1991 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:33 a.m. on Monday, April 22, 1991, by Board Member Patricia E. <br />DeClercq. Also present were Board member Katherine Humphreys and <br />Board Attorney Jenny Pitts Manier. Board President John E. <br />Leszczynski was not in attendance. <br />APPROVE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING <br />Upon a motion made by Ms. Humphreys, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq <br />and carried, the minutes of the regular meeting of the Board held <br />on April 15, 1991, were approved. <br />AGENDA ITEMS ADDED/STRICKEN <br />There being no objections by members of the Board, the following <br />items were added and/or stricken from the agenda at this time: <br />ADDED <br />Request of Park Department to close Niles Avenue in <br />conjunction with races to be held on the East Race. <br />41q9.1M1UG ft4N <br />Recommendation - request of C.E. Stafford Construction, Inc. <br />to utilize a portion of the City's parking lot in conjunction <br />with repair work to the building at 125 Lafayette Boulevard, <br />was stricken from the agenda at this time. <br />OPENING OF QUOTATIONS - ASBESTOS REMOVAL - OSCO BUILDING <br />This was the date set for receiving and opening of sealed <br />Quotations for the above referred to project. The following <br />Quotation was opened and publicly read: <br />SPECIALTY SYSTEMS OF ILLINOIS <br />SOUTH BEND DIVISION <br />1408 Elwood Avenue <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Quotation was submitted by Mr. James King, Vice -President. <br />QUOTATION: $5,760.00 <br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Ms. Humphreys <br />and carried, the above Quotation was referred to the Department <br />of Economic Development and the Engineering Department for review <br />and recommendation. <br />ADOPT RESOLUTION NO. 14-1991 - DISPOSAL OF OBSOLETE EQUIPMENT <br />(FIRE DEPARTMENT) <br />Mrs. DeClercq advised that the Board is in receipt of a letter <br />from Fire Chief Luther Taylor indicating that the Department <br />recently replaced all of the self contained breathing apparatus <br />(SCBA's) with new units. Several inquiries have been received <br />concerning the disposal of the used equipment and Chief Taylor <br />believes that a market exists for the re -sale of these units. <br />Since they no longer need the old SBCA's, Chief Taylor asked that <br />the Board pass a Resolution declaring this used equipment <br />obsolete and approve disposing of it by soliciting sealed bids. <br />Chief Taylor noted that one (1) complete SCBA unit consists of a <br />face piece, harness, regulator and air cylinder. He also advised <br />that the Department has for sale fifty (50) complete Survivair <br />Mark II SCBA 30 minute LP Series 9842 units and will dispose of <br />them in lots of ten (10) with a minimum bid per lot of two. <br />thousand seven hundred fifty dollars ($2,750.00). Also available <br />for sale are five (5) Survivair Mark II 60 minute HP Series 9870 <br />units. These are available for a minimum bid of three hundred <br />seventy five dollars ($375.00) each. <br />1 <br />Chief Taylor advised that the equipment is available for pick-up <br />
