REGULAR MEETING JANUARY 14, 1991
1
Mr. Leszczynski thanked Mr. Cronk for voicing his concerns and
stated that the Board rests comfortably that the Redevelopment
Authority has exhausted every possibility to rent the building
and suggested that Mr. Cronk talk to the Department of Economic
Development about other relocation possibilities. Mr. Cronk
stated that the building slated for demolition is the only
building he would relocate to.
APPROVE RECOMMENDATION TO REJECT BIDS AND READVERTISE FOR THE
RECEIPT OF BIDS - ONE (1) DUAL REAR WHEEL CHASSIS (FIRE
DEPARTMENT'
In a letter to the Board, Fire Chief Luther Taylor advised that
after reviewing the bids received from Jordon Motors, Inc., of
Mishawaka, Gates Chevy World of South Bend and Carl Summers Ford
Company of Fortville, Indiana, for one (1) one ton chassis, he
recommends that all bids be rejected due to availability of new
information. It is noted that these bids were opened by the
Board on December 31, 1990.
Chief Taylor further advised the Board that he has recently
received new information on a heavier, light duty chassis that is
available in a crewcab that meets their needs. They are
currently using one of these chassis on one of their ambulances
and have another one on order. This chassis has been the
solution to many of their problems in the past and they believe
it is well worth the time and in the best interests of the City
to get a chassis that will eliminate many of their problems in
the future. Chief Taylor noted that this chassis will be used
for towing their thirty-five foot (351) hazardous materials
trailer.
Therefore, the Fire Department requests permission to readvertise
for one (1) dual rear wheel 14,500 G.V.W. Crewcab Chassis. A
Lease Purchase Agreement, funded by the E.M.S. Capital
Improvement Fund will be the method use for payment.
Therefore, Mrs. DeClercq made a motion that the bids received on
December 31, 1990, be rejected and that the request to
readvertise for the receipt of bids for one (1) dual rear wheel
14,500 G.V.W. Crewcab Chassis be approved. Ms. Humphreys
seconded the motion which carried.
DENY PETITION FOR RESTRICTED RESIDENTIAL PARKING ZONE - 900 BLOCK
SOUTH TWYCKENHAM DRIVE
Mr. Leszczynski stated that the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting
has recommended that the Petition for the Establishment of a
Restricted Residential Parking Zone in the 900 block of South
Twyckenham Drive, which was submitted to the Board on December
10, 1990, be denied.
The Bureau advised that a study was conducted on December 19,
1990 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The study reveals that
ordinance requirements were not met. The average percentage of
occupancy was thirteen per cent (13%) and ordinance requirements
indicate that seventy-five per cent (750) is required.
Additionally, the percentage of non-resident vehicle registration
was thirteen per cent (130) and ordinance requirements indicate
that twenty-five per cent (250) must be met. Therefore, Mr.
Leszczynski made a motion that the recommendation be accepted and
the Petition be denied. Ms. Humphreys seconded the motion which
carried.
DENY REQUESTS TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED PROPERTY:
- 841 SOUTH GRANT STREET
- 1113-BURNS STREET
- LOT 16 - KUNSTMAN'S ADDITION
Mr. Leszczynski advised that requests to purchase the above
