REGULAR MEETING NOVEMBER 23, 1992 1 1 Memorandum from Mayor Joseph E. Kernan recommending the following schedule for 1993 holidays for City employees: New Year's Day Good Friday Memorial Day Independence Day Labor Day Veteran's Day Thanksgiving Day Day after Thanksgiving Christmas Day Friday, January 1, 1993 Friday, April 9, 1993 Monday, May 24, 1993 Monday, July 5, 1993 Monday, September 6, 1993 Thursday, November 11, 1993 Thursday, November 25, 1993 Friday, November 26, 1993 Monday, December 27, 1993 In addition to the above nine (9) designated holidays, employees may choose one (1) additional holiday from the following: Martin Luther King Day Monday, January 18, 1993 President's Day Monday, February 15, 1993 Columbus Day Monday, October 11, 1993 Employee's Birthday Therefore, Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the recommendation be accepted and the above outlined holiday schedule for 1993 be approved. Mrs. Mueller seconded the motion which carried. ST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - STREET SEWER LINER 1992 PROJECT In a Memorandum to the Board, Mr. Carl P. Littrell, Director, Division of Engineering, requested that the Board advertise for the receipt of bids for the above referred to project. Mr. Littrell advised that this project entails the installation of new liners in existing sewers by two (2) methods in different locations. The insertion of a resin impregnated felt tube and insertion of a polyvinyl chloride pipe by pressure and heat expansion from a deformed shape. The impregnated tube method was successfully installed in 1991 at the west end of Ford Street. This will be a first "trial" installation of the expanded PVC method in South Bend, though it has been successfully used in other places during the last five (5) years. Therefore, Mrs. Mueller made a motion that the request be approved. Mr. Caldwell seconded the motion which carried. OF AMERICAN DIABETES ASSOCIATION_ TO CONDUCT WALK 93' - OCTOBER 3, 19 T Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Board is in receipt of a letter from Ms. Donna M. Swope, Regional Director, American Diabetes Association, 115 South Lafayette Boulevard, Suite 407, South Bend, Indiana, requesting that Sunday, October 3, 1993 be reserved for the Walktoberfest 931. Ms. Swope submitted with her request the route to be utilized. Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the request be referred to the appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and recommendation. Mr. Caldwell seconded the motion which carried. APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. Mueller and carried, the following two (2) traffic control devices were approved: 1. NEW INSTALLATION: NO PARKING LOCATION: Green Street (both sides). Bendix to west property line of 3033 and 3025 Green Street. REMARKS: To relieve traffic congestion at entrances to Credit Union and Valley American Bank.
