REGULAR MEETING <br />NOVEMBER 23, 1992 <br />1 <br />1 <br />Memorandum from Mayor Joseph E. Kernan recommending the following <br />schedule for 1993 holidays for City employees: <br />New Year's Day <br />Good Friday <br />Memorial Day <br />Independence Day <br />Labor Day <br />Veteran's Day <br />Thanksgiving Day <br />Day after Thanksgiving <br />Christmas Day <br />Friday, January 1, 1993 <br />Friday, April 9, 1993 <br />Monday, May 24, 1993 <br />Monday, July 5, 1993 <br />Monday, September 6, 1993 <br />Thursday, November 11, 1993 <br />Thursday, November 25, 1993 <br />Friday, November 26, 1993 <br />Monday, December 27, 1993 <br />In addition to the above nine (9) designated holidays, employees <br />may choose one (1) additional holiday from the following: <br />Martin Luther King Day Monday, January 18, 1993 <br />President's Day Monday, February 15, 1993 <br />Columbus Day Monday, October 11, 1993 <br />Employee's Birthday <br />Therefore, Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the recommendation <br />be accepted and the above outlined holiday schedule for 1993 be <br />approved. Mrs. Mueller seconded the motion which carried. <br />ST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - <br />STREET SEWER LINER 1992 PROJECT <br />In a Memorandum to the Board, Mr. Carl P. Littrell, Director, <br />Division of Engineering, requested that the Board advertise for <br />the receipt of bids for the above referred to project. Mr. <br />Littrell advised that this project entails the installation of <br />new liners in existing sewers by two (2) methods in different <br />locations. The insertion of a resin impregnated felt tube and <br />insertion of a polyvinyl chloride pipe by pressure and heat <br />expansion from a deformed shape. The impregnated tube method was <br />successfully installed in 1991 at the west end of Ford Street. <br />This will be a first "trial" installation of the expanded PVC <br />method in South Bend, though it has been successfully used in <br />other places during the last five (5) years. Therefore, Mrs. <br />Mueller made a motion that the request be approved. Mr. Caldwell <br />seconded the motion which carried. <br />OF AMERICAN DIABETES ASSOCIATION_ TO CONDUCT WALK <br />93' - OCTOBER 3, 19 <br />T <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Board is in receipt of a letter <br />from Ms. Donna M. Swope, Regional Director, American Diabetes <br />Association, 115 South Lafayette Boulevard, Suite 407, South <br />Bend, Indiana, requesting that Sunday, October 3, 1993 be <br />reserved for the Walktoberfest 931. Ms. Swope submitted with her <br />request the route to be utilized. Mr. Leszczynski made a motion <br />that the request be referred to the appropriate City departments <br />and bureaus for review and recommendation. Mr. Caldwell seconded <br />the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. Mueller and <br />carried, the following two (2) traffic control devices were <br />approved: <br />1. NEW INSTALLATION: NO PARKING <br />LOCATION: Green Street (both sides). <br />Bendix to west property line of <br />3033 and 3025 Green Street. <br />REMARKS: To relieve traffic congestion at <br />entrances to Credit Union and <br />Valley American Bank. <br />
