REGULAR MEETING NOVEMBER 9, 1992 <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - ONE (1) <br />1500 GPM TRIPLE COMBINATION MOTORIZED PUMPING APPARATUS (FIRE <br />DEPARTMENT) <br />Fire Chief Luther Taylor requested that the Board advertise for <br />the receipt of bids for immediate delivery one (1) 1500 GPM <br />triple combination motorized pumping apparatus for the Fire <br />Department. Chief Taylor noted that this vehicle will replace a <br />1985 Midi Pumper which will become available for sale. Lease <br />purchase agreements, funded by the Emergency Medical Services <br />Capital Improvement Fund, will be the method used for payment. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. Mueller <br />and carried, the request was approved. <br />AWARD BID - THREE (3) USED FOUR DOOR SEDANS (FIRE DEPARTMENT) <br />Fire Chief Luther Taylor informed members of the Board that he <br />has reviewed the one (1) bid received on November 2, 1992, for <br />three (3) used four door sedans for the Fire Department. Chief <br />Taylor recommends that the Board award the bid of Gates Chevrolet <br />Corporation, 401 South Lafayette Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana <br />as follows: <br />Three (3) used 1992 Chevrolet Corsica <br />four (4) door sedans as per specifications <br />Net Price Each: $ 8,675.00 <br />Total Award: $26,025.00 <br />Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the recommendation be accepted <br />and the bid be awarded. Mrs. Mueller seconded the motion which <br />carried. <br />REQUESTS APPROVED: <br />OF SUNBEAM PRODUCTIONS TO OCCUPY THE PUBLIC RIGHT-OF- <br />WAY IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE FILMING OF THE MOVIE "RUDY" - <br />NOVEMRRR 9_ 17 AWn ?n 1QQ7 <br />- OF SOUTH EAST COMMUNITY TO CONDUCT MARCH - NOVEMBER 10 <br />1992 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the appropriate City departments and <br />bureaus have reviewed the above referred to requests, which were <br />submitted to the Board on November 2, 1992, and approval is <br />recommended. Therefore, Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the <br />request of Sunbeam Productions be approved. Mrs. Mueller <br />seconded the motion which carried. Additionally, Mr. Leszczynski <br />made a motion that the request of the South East Community to <br />conduct a March on November 10, 1992 be approved. Mrs. Mueller <br />seconded the motion which carried. <br />REQUEST OF SOUTH BEND REGIONAL MUSEUM OF ART TO PLACE SIGNS IN <br />THE PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY - DENIED <br />It is noted that on August 31, 1992, the Board received a request <br />from Ms. Leslie Gitlin, Publicist, South Bend Regional Museum of <br />Art, requesting that the City's Bureau of Traffic and Lighting <br />install forty-seven (47) 3611x30" vertical directional signs to <br />the Museum on poles that currently house the directional signs to <br />the Century Center. It is further noted that this request has <br />been reviewed by the various City departments and bureaus and at <br />this time is recommended for denial. <br />Board Attorney and Member Mary H. Mueller stated that she <br />recommends that this request be denied as the public right-of-way <br />can only be used for public information signs which include signs <br />containing emergency or legal notices and regulatory information. <br />Therefore, Mrs. Mueller made a motion that the request be <br />denied. Mr. Leszczynski seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. Mueller and <br />
