WASHINGTON <br />FROM MAPLE STREET TO WALNUT STREET FOR GROUND -BREAKING <br />CEREMONY FOR WEST WASHINGTON HOMES - SEPTEMBER 18 1992 <br />Mr. Paul Hayden, Project Coordinator, South Bend Heritage <br />Foundation, 914 Lincolnway West, South Bend, Indiana, <br />submitted to the Board an Application For Use Of And Blocking <br />Of Access To Public Right -Of -Way For A Party Or Similar <br />Event, requesting that West Washington, from Maple Street to <br />Walnut Street, be closed from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on <br />Friday, September 18, 1992, in conjunction with the <br />ground -breaking ceremony for West Washington Homes. <br />Mr. Hayden noted that a formal ground -breaking ceremony for <br />the new construction of West Washington Homes will be held on <br />both sides of the 1200.block of West Washington. <br />- TO CLOSE BLAINE FROM LINCOLNWAY WEST TO LA PORTS FOR <br />BACK -TO -SCHOOL BLOCK PARTY - SEPTEMBER 19 1992 <br />Ms. Natalie Lott, 519 Blaine, South Bend, Indiana, submitted <br />to the Board an Application For Use Of And Blocking Of Access <br />To Public Right -Of -Way For A Party Or Similar Event, <br />requesting that Blaine, from Lincolnway West to LaPorte, be <br />closed from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, September <br />19, 1992, for a back -to -school block party. <br />APPROVE REQUESTS: <br />REQUEST OF COUNTRY 102 FM WGTC, SUMMIT RADIO, TO OCCUPY <br />PUBLIC RIGHT OF -WAY IN FRONT OF 230 SOUTH MICHIGAN STREET - <br />AUGUST 25, 1992 <br />REQUEST OF ST. JOSEPH'S MEDICAL CENTER TO CONDUCT 12TH ANNUAL <br />SPORTSMED 10K RACE 10K WHEELCHAIR RACE 5K 1 MILE FUN RUN <br />AND 4K WALK - NOVEMBER 1 1992 <br />OF TEMPLE BETH-EL TO REMOVE "NO PARKING" AROUND THE TEMPLE <br />IN CONJUNCTION WITH HOLY DAY SERVICES - SEPTEMBER <br />27-28, 1992 AND OCTOBER 6-7. 1992 <br />TO CLOSE DEVON CIRCLE FOR NEIGHBORHOOD BLOCK PARTY - <br />SEPTEMBER 13. 1992 <br />Mr. Leszczynski noted that the above referred to requests, which <br />were submitted to the Board on July 20, 1992, August 10, 1992, <br />and August 17, 1992, have been reviewed by the various City <br />departments and bureaus and approval is recommended. <br />Board Attorney and Member Mary H. Mueller noted that the request - <br />of Temple Beth -El has been amended due to the fact that a <br />construction trailer is parked on the right-of-way at the Temple <br />on Madison Street. Therefore, the no parking on the north side <br />of Madison by the construction site must remain. However, no <br />parking will be temporarily removed on Lafayette Boulevard and <br />the south side of Madison Street. <br />Therefore, Mrs. Mueller made a motion that the recommendations be <br />accepted and the requests be approved with the request of Temple <br />Beth -El being approved as amended and recommended by the Bureau <br />of Traffic and Lighting. Mr. Caldwell seconded the motion which <br />carried. <br />APPROVE CLAIMS <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that City Controller Kevin Horton <br />submitted to the Board claims in the amount of $1,272,058.92 and <br />recommended approval. <br />Therefore, Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the claims be <br />approved and the list be filed. Mrs. Mueller seconded the motion <br />which carried. <br />
