REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 24, 1992 AWARD BID - 1992 CONCRETE IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT Mr. Carl P. Littrell, Director, Division of Engineering, advised that he has reviewed,the six (6) bids received on August 17, 1992, for the above referred to project, and recommends that the Board award the low bid of Rieth-Riley Construction Company, Inc., P.O. Box 1775, South Bend, Indiana, in the amount of $74,703.18. Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the recommendation be accepted and the bid be awarded. Mrs. Mueller seconded the motion which carried. APPROVE CHANGE'ORDER NO. 2 (FINAL) AND PROJECT C Mr. Leszczynski advised that L.L. Geans & Sons, Inc., 56535 Magnetic Drive, Mishawaka, Indiana, has submitted Change Order No. 2 (Final) indicating that the Contract amount be increased by $827.18 for a new Contract sum, including this Change Order, in the amount of $36,217.19. Additionally submitted was the Project Completion Affidavit indicating this new final cost. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. Mueller and carried, Change Order No. 2 (Final) and the Project Completion Affidavit were approved and the appropriate three-year Maintenance Bond as submitted was accepted for filing. APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - VARIOUS EQUIPMENT In a letter to the Board, Mr. John E. Leszczynski, Director, Department of Public Works, requested that the Board advertise for the receipt of bids for the following: - Three (3) more or less 3/4 ton pick-ups with front mounted plows - Two (2) tandem axle trucks with trade-ins - One (1) asphalt paver with trade-in - One (1) front-end loader with trade-in - Four (4) more or less 1/2 ton pick-ups - One (1) used signal lift truck Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that this request be approved. Mrs. Mueller seconded the motion which carried. REQUESTS REFERRED: Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. Mueller and carried, the following requests were referred to the appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and recommendation: - OF HISTORIC DISTRICT YARD SALE COMMITTEE TO CLO STREET, FROM W. WASHINGTON TO W. COLFAX. FOR HI DISTRICT YARD SALE - SEPTEMBER 19, 195 TE Mr. Paul Hayden, Project Coordinator, Historic District Yard Sale Committee, 914 Lincolnway West, South Bend, Indiana, submitted to the Board an Application For Use Of And Blocking Of Access To Public Right -Of -Way For A Party Or Similar Event, requesting that LaPorte Street, from West Washington to West Colfax, be closed from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, 1992, in conjunction with the Historic District Yard Sale. Mr. Hayden noted that the neighborhood residents will sell yard sale merchandise at the northwest corner of LaPorte and West Washington Streets. It is requested that the 100 block of LaPorte be closed to prevent vehicular traffic from interferring with pedestrian flow. 1 7
