REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 24, 1992 <br />AWARD BID - 1992 CONCRETE IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT <br />Mr. Carl P. Littrell, Director, Division of Engineering, advised <br />that he has reviewed,the six (6) bids received on August 17, <br />1992, for the above referred to project, and recommends that the <br />Board award the low bid of Rieth-Riley Construction Company, <br />Inc., P.O. Box 1775, South Bend, Indiana, in the amount of <br />$74,703.18. Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the <br />recommendation be accepted and the bid be awarded. Mrs. Mueller <br />seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE CHANGE'ORDER NO. 2 (FINAL) AND PROJECT C <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that L.L. Geans & Sons, Inc., 56535 <br />Magnetic Drive, Mishawaka, Indiana, has submitted Change Order <br />No. 2 (Final) indicating that the Contract amount be increased by <br />$827.18 for a new Contract sum, including this Change Order, in <br />the amount of $36,217.19. Additionally submitted was the Project <br />Completion Affidavit indicating this new final cost. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. Mueller <br />and carried, Change Order No. 2 (Final) and the Project <br />Completion Affidavit were approved and the appropriate three-year <br />Maintenance Bond as submitted was accepted for filing. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - VARIOUS <br />EQUIPMENT <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. John E. Leszczynski, Director, <br />Department of Public Works, requested that the Board advertise <br />for the receipt of bids for the following: <br />- Three (3) more or less 3/4 ton pick-ups with front <br />mounted plows <br />- Two (2) tandem axle trucks with trade-ins <br />- One (1) asphalt paver with trade-in <br />- One (1) front-end loader with trade-in <br />- Four (4) more or less 1/2 ton pick-ups <br />- One (1) used signal lift truck <br />Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that this request be approved. <br />Mrs. Mueller seconded the motion which carried. <br />REQUESTS REFERRED: <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. Mueller <br />and carried, the following requests were referred to the <br />appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and <br />recommendation: <br />- OF HISTORIC DISTRICT YARD SALE COMMITTEE TO CLO <br />STREET, FROM W. WASHINGTON TO W. COLFAX. FOR HI <br />DISTRICT YARD SALE - SEPTEMBER 19, 195 <br />TE <br />Mr. Paul Hayden, Project Coordinator, Historic District Yard <br />Sale Committee, 914 Lincolnway West, South Bend, Indiana, <br />submitted to the Board an Application For Use Of And Blocking <br />Of Access To Public Right -Of -Way For A Party Or Similar <br />Event, requesting that LaPorte Street, from West Washington <br />to West Colfax, be closed from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on <br />Saturday, September 19, 1992, in conjunction with the <br />Historic District Yard Sale. <br />Mr. Hayden noted that the neighborhood residents will sell <br />yard sale merchandise at the northwest corner of LaPorte and <br />West Washington Streets. It is requested that the 100 block <br />of LaPorte be closed to prevent vehicular traffic from <br />interferring with pedestrian flow. <br />1 <br />7 <br />
