REGULAR MEETING JULY 6, 1992 <br />Mr. Leszczynski informed members of the Board that favorable <br />recommendations concerning this vacation have been received from <br />the Fire Department, Police Department, Division of Sanitation <br />and Division of Engineering and unfavorable recommendations were <br />received from the Area Plan Commission and the Department of <br />Economic Development. <br />Board Attorney and Member Mary H. Mueller noted that the <br />unfavorable recommendations received from the Area Plan <br />Commission and the Department of Economic Development were based <br />on the fact that all of the lot owners adjacent to the proposed <br />alley to be vacated did not join in the Petition. She noted that <br />they will all be notified of the Common Council Public Hearing <br />concerning this vacation and therefore will have that opportunity <br />to voice their concerns. Therefore, Mrs. Mueller recommended <br />that the Board issue a favorable recommendation to the Common <br />Council concerning this vacation. Mr. Caldwell seconded the <br />motion which carried. <br />- REQUEST OF ST. MARY OF THE ASSUMPTION CHURCH TO CLOSE A <br />PORTION OF ASSUMPTION DRIVE IN CONJUNCTION WITH PARISH <br />FESTIVAL - AUGUST 9, 1992 <br />- REQUEST OF VIETNAM VETERANS TO CONDUCT 4TH ANNUAL P.O.W., <br />M.I.A., HOSTAGE FREEDOM MARCH - AUGUST 15 1992 <br />- REQUEST OF HEALTHY MOTHERS HEALTHY BABIES BREAST-FEEDING <br />ISSUE COMMITTEE AND LA LECHE LEAGUE OF SOUTH BEND/MISHAWAKA <br />TO CONDUCT WALK - AUGUST 1, 1992 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the above referred to requests, <br />which were submitted to the Board on May 26, 1992, and June 8, <br />1992 and June 15, 1992, have been reviewed by the appropriate <br />City departments and bureaus and approval is recommended. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and <br />carried, the recommendations were accepted and the requests <br />approved. <br />REQUEST OF COMMUNITY RESOURCE CENTER, INC. TO RESERVE PARKING <br />ON BOTH SIDES OF THE 100 BLOCK OF E_ WASHTNrTnN_ TN FRnNT nF <br />THE MARRIOTT HOTEL, IN CONJUNCTION WITH RETIRED SENIOR <br />LUNCHEON - AUGUST 4, 1992 - REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Christine Neander, RSVP <br />Coordinator, Community Resource Center, Inc., 914 Lincolnway <br />West, South Bend, Indiana, advised that the Center will hold its <br />seventh annual Retired Senior Volunteer Recognition Luncheon on <br />Tuesday, August 4, 1992, at the South Bend Marriott. As in the <br />past three (3) years, they would like to request that the Board <br />reserve both sides of 100 East Washington Street for <br />transportation vehicles. They expect to have one (1) United Limo <br />Charter and about five (5) to seven (7) vans. There are quite a <br />few handicapped senior citizens volunteering in this program. <br />Therefore, Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the request be <br />referred to the appropriate City departments and bureaus for <br />review and recommendation. Mr. Caldwell seconded the motion <br />which carried. <br />FILING OF ENVIRONMENTAL CLEAN-UP OF LOTS REPORTS <br />Mr. Leszczynski indicated that the Board is in receipt of two (2) <br />lists as submitted by the Department of Code Enforcement <br />indicating that twenty-one (21) miscellaneous properties were <br />cleaned by the Department from June 28, 1992 to June 29, 1992. <br />Mr. Caldwell made a motion that the lists be accepted for <br />filing. Mr. Leszczynski seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE CLAIMS <br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that the Deputy Controllers Office has <br />
