<br />REGULAR MEETING
<br />JUNE 8, 1992
<br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at
<br />9:32 a.m. on Monday, June 8, 1992, by Board President John E.
<br />Leszczynski, with Mr. Leszczynski and Mr. James R. Caldwell
<br />present. Board Member and Attorney Mary H. Mueller was not in
<br />attendance. Also present was Assistant City Attorney Jenny Pitts
<br />Manier.
<br />APPROVE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski
<br />and carried, the minutes of the regular meeting of the Board held
<br />on June 1, 1992 were approved.
<br />AWARD BID - REFURBISHING OF ONE (1) 1983 3-D 1500 G.P.M. DUPLEX
<br />CHASSIS PUMPER
<br />In a letter to the Board, Fire Chief Luther Taylor advised that
<br />he has reviewed the two (2) bids received on June 1, 1992 for the
<br />above referred to refurbishing project and recommends that the
<br />Board award the bid of Renewed Performance, Inc., P.O. Box 196,
<br />Tipton, Indiana, in the amount of $65,453.00 which is the base
<br />bid of $61,774.00 plus optional equipment in the amount of
<br />$3,679.00. Therefore, Mr. Caldwell made a motion that the
<br />recommendation be accepted and the bid be awarded. Mr.
<br />Leszczynski seconded the motion which carried.
<br />AWARD BID - GRIT CHANNEL REBUILDING - SOUTH BEND WASTEWATER
<br />TREATMENT PLANT
<br />Mr. Carl P. Littrell, Director, Division of Engineering, informed
<br />the Board that he has reviewed the two (2) bids received on June
<br />1, 1992 for the above referred to project and recommends that the
<br />Board award the low bid of Industrial Installation, Inc., 55587
<br />Currant Road, Mishawaka, Indiana, in the amount of $29,760.00
<br />subject to review by the Division of Environmental Services and
<br />availability of funds. Mr. Caldwell made a motion that the
<br />recommendation be accepted and the bid be awarded. Mr.
<br />Leszczynski seconded the motion which carried.
<br />AWARD BID - STUDEBAKER CORRIDOR REDEVELOPMENT AREA - AVANTI
<br />BUILDING - ASBESTOS ABATEMENT - (BID PACKAGE #1)
<br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Board is in receipt of a
<br />Memorandum from Mr. Carl P. Littrell, Director, Division of
<br />Engineering, recommending that the Board award the low bid of
<br />Asbestos Services, Inc., 9028 Hills Road, P.O. Box 141, Baroda,
<br />MI, in the amount of $24,337.00, with no additional liability
<br />insurance ordered, for the above referred to project. It is
<br />noted that bids for this project were opened by the Board on June
<br />1, 1992. Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the recommendation
<br />be accepted and the bid be awarded. Mr. Caldwell seconded the
<br />motion which carried.
<br />AWARD BID - STUDEBAKER CORRIDOR REDEVELOPMENT AREA - BUILDING AT
<br />216 WEST GARST STREET (NORTH AMERICAN SIGN COMPANY)
<br />- ASBESTOS ABATEMENT - (BID PACKAGE #1)
<br />- DEMOLITION (BID PACKAGE #2)
<br />Mr. Carl P. Littrell, Director, Division of Engineering, informed
<br />the Board that he has reviewed the bids received on June 1, 1992,
<br />for the above referred to project and at this time recommends
<br />that the Board award the low bid of Speciality Systems of
<br />Illinois, Inc., Inc., South Bend Division, 1408 Elwood Avenue,
<br />South Bend, Indiana, for asbestos abatement, in the amount of
<br />$1,120.00 and that no additional insurance be ordered. Mr.
<br />Caldwell made a motion that the recommendation be accepted and
<br />the bid be awarded. Mr. Leszczynski seconded the motion which
<br />carried.

<br />Additionally, Mr. Littrell recommended that the Board award the
<br />
