REGULAR MEETING MAY 11, 1992 <br />West Leland Avenue, Chicago, Illinois, in the amount of <br />$149,949.00 for the above referred to project, a Contract in said <br />amount was being submitted for Board approval. Upon a motion <br />made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. Meuller and carried, the <br />Contract was approved and the appropriate Insurance, Performance <br />Bond and Labor and Materials Payment Bond as submitted were <br />filed. <br />APPROVE EMERGENCY SHELTER GRANT PROGRAM CONTRACTS <br />It is noted that the Board is in receipt of five (5) Emergency <br />Shelter Grant Program Contracts with the following agencies: <br />CENTER FOR THE HOMELESS <br />CENTER FOR THE HOMELESS SHELTER ACTIVITY <br />The targeted goal for this activity is to serve five hundred <br />(500) clients. The total cost of this activity shall not <br />exceed $27,000.00. <br />HOUSING DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION <br />HDC SOUTHGATE TRANSITIONAL HOUSING ACTIVITY <br />The targeted goal for this project is to serve one hundred <br />(100) clients. The total cost for this activity shall not <br />exceed $9,700.00. <br />ST. JOSEPH COUNTY AIDS TASK FORCE <br />TEMPORARY SHELTER ACTIVITY <br />The targeted goal for this activity is to serve twelve (12) <br />clients. The total cost of this activity shall not exceed <br />$6,000.00 <br />DISMAS OF MICHIANA <br />DISMAS OF MICHIANA SHELTER ACTIVITY <br />The targeted goal for this activity is to serve forty (40) <br />clients. The total cost of this activity shall not exceed <br />$5,000.00. <br />YOUTH SERVICES BUREAU <br />YOUTH SERVICES RUNAWAY SHELTER ACTIVITY <br />The targeted goal for this activity is to serve two hundred <br />(200) clients. The total cost of this activity shall not <br />exceed $11,100.00. <br />Mrs. Mueller made a motion that the above Contracts be approved <br />and executed. Mr. Leszczynski seconded the motion which <br />carried. Mr. Caldwell abstained on voting on the Contract with <br />the Center for the Homeless as he is a member of their Board. <br />AWARD BID - ONE (1) INDUSTRIAL LOADER/BACKHOE <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Robert Kruszynski, Manager, <br />Department of Sanitation, advised that bids for an industrial <br />loader/backhoe for the Sanitation Department were opened by the <br />Board on May 4, 1992. The two (2) lowest bids were received from <br />Brandeis Machinery and Supply in the amount of $50,695.00 and <br />MacDonald Machinery, in the amount of $53,700.00. <br />Mr. Kruszynski noted that the bid from MacDonald Machinery, has <br />met the requirements of the specifications. The low bid of <br />Brandeis Machinery failed to meet the specifications in some very <br />significant ways. Some of the more serious failures are: <br />1. The specifications called for the machine to be 90 <br />net horsepower. The bid of Brandeis is 85 net/90 gross. <br />Specifications call for a minimum 176 cubic inch engine. <br />The bid of Brandeis is 243 cubic inch engine. <br />2. Specifications call for minimum machine weight of 17,000 <br />
