REGULAR MEETING MAY 4, 1992 804 Oakridge Drive, South Bend, Indiana, requested permission, on behalf of the 1992 Committee for the CROP Walk, to conduct the annual walk on Sunday, October 4, 1992 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. utilizing the route which was attached to the request and which is one that has been utilized in the past. APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. Mueller and carried, the following three (3) traffic control devices were approved: 1. NEW INSTALLATION: No Parking Sign LOCATION: On Vine (north side) 21st to 20th REMARKS: Requested by Mr. and Mrs. Douglas A. Cowen (along their property) 2. NEW INSTALLATION: Handicap Parking Sign LOCATION: 1613 Florence REMARKS: Requested by Mrs. Davis 3. NEW INSTALLATION: Handicap Parking Sign LOCATION: 220 East Indiana REMARKS: Requested by Ms. Pauline Wright FILING OF ENVIRONMENTAL CLEAN-UP OF LOTS REPORTS Mr. Leszczynski stated that the Board is in receipt of two (2) lists as submitted by the Department of Code Enforcement indicating that forty-five (45) miscellaneous properties were cleaned by the Department from April 20, 1992 to April 24, 1992. Mr. Caldwell made a motion that the lists be accepted for filing. Mr. Leszczynski seconded the motion which carried. APPROVE CLAIMS Mr. Leszczynski stated that the Deputy Controllers Office has submitted claims in the amount of $1,435,230.87 and recommended approval. Mr. Caldwell made a motion that the claims be approved and the list filed. Mr. Leszczynski seconded the motion which carried. QUESTIONS CONCERNING GASOLINE SPILL AT SITE OF AIRPORT 2010 PROJECT Mr. Tom Howell, Radio Station U93, inquired of the Board the status of a recent gasoline spill on the site of a project which is part of the City's Airport 2010 Project and asked if there has been any seepage into the ground water. Mr. Carl P. Littrell, Director, Division of Engineering, advised that the contractor has equipment at the site to eliminate contaminated soil utilizing requirements for removal of special waste. He noted that the IDEM will approve of the removal of the contaminated soil and they will see that they go ten feet (101) beyond the contamination site to make sure they have removed all the contaminated soil. Mr. Leszczynski advised that the contractor will be responsible for any clean-up costs involved in this incident and the matter is not a City responsibility as the contractor was told there was a pipeline at the site.
