REGULAR MEETING <br />MAY 4, 1992 <br />804 Oakridge Drive, South Bend, Indiana, requested <br />permission, on behalf of the 1992 Committee for the CROP <br />Walk, to conduct the annual walk on Sunday, October 4, 1992 <br />from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. utilizing the route which was <br />attached to the request and which is one that has been <br />utilized in the past. <br />APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. Mueller and <br />carried, the following three (3) traffic control devices were <br />approved: <br />1. NEW INSTALLATION: <br />No Parking Sign <br />LOCATION: <br />On Vine (north side) 21st to 20th <br />REMARKS: <br />Requested by Mr. and Mrs. Douglas <br />A. Cowen (along their property) <br />2. NEW INSTALLATION: <br />Handicap Parking Sign <br />LOCATION: <br />1613 Florence <br />REMARKS: <br />Requested by Mrs. Davis <br />3. NEW INSTALLATION: <br />Handicap Parking Sign <br />LOCATION: <br />220 East Indiana <br />REMARKS: <br />Requested by Ms. Pauline Wright <br />FILING OF ENVIRONMENTAL CLEAN-UP <br />OF LOTS REPORTS <br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that the Board is in receipt of two (2) <br />lists as submitted by the <br />Department of Code Enforcement <br />indicating that forty-five <br />(45) miscellaneous properties were <br />cleaned by the Department <br />from April 20, 1992 to April 24, 1992. <br />Mr. Caldwell made a motion <br />that the lists be accepted for <br />filing. Mr. Leszczynski seconded <br />the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE CLAIMS <br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that the Deputy Controllers Office has <br />submitted claims in the amount of $1,435,230.87 and recommended <br />approval. Mr. Caldwell made a motion that the claims be approved <br />and the list filed. Mr. Leszczynski seconded the motion which <br />carried. <br />QUESTIONS CONCERNING GASOLINE SPILL AT SITE OF AIRPORT 2010 <br />PROJECT <br />Mr. Tom Howell, Radio Station U93, inquired of the Board the <br />status of a recent gasoline spill on the site of a project which <br />is part of the City's Airport 2010 Project and asked if there has <br />been any seepage into the ground water. <br />Mr. Carl P. Littrell, Director, Division of Engineering, advised <br />that the contractor has equipment at the site to eliminate <br />contaminated soil utilizing requirements for removal of special <br />waste. He noted that the IDEM will approve of the removal of the <br />contaminated soil and they will see that they go ten feet (101) <br />beyond the contamination site to make sure they have removed all <br />the contaminated soil. <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the contractor will be responsible <br />for any clean-up costs involved in this incident and the matter <br />is not a City responsibility as the contractor was told there was <br />a pipeline at the site. <br />
