REGULAR MEETING APRIL 27, 1992 <br />Chair, Religion Committee, Aids Ministries Committee, P.O. Box <br />11582, South Bend, Indiana, advised that the Religion Committee <br />of AIDS Ministries Committee/AIDS Assist, composed of ten (10) <br />pastors from as many religious denominations, have sponsored the <br />International Candlelight Memorial and Mobilization event for the <br />past three (3) years. <br />This year as well as having a service within a chapel <br />environment, they would like to have a brief prayer service in <br />the open. To accomplish this, they wish to walk from St. Joseph <br />Church at 226 North Hill Street, south on Hill to Colfax, cross <br />Colfax and proceed west to Gintz Avenue and into James Seitz <br />Park. There the prayer ceremony will be held and flowers <br />representing those lost to the AIDS pandemic will be thrown into <br />the water. The ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, May 17, 1992, <br />starting at 3:45 p.m., from St. Joseph Church and probably <br />concluding about 4:30 p.m. It is anticipated that between <br />seventy-five (75) and one hundred (100) people will participate. <br />All walking will be done on the sidewalks. If weather permits, <br />they hope to serve lemonade and cookies at the park. Mr. <br />Leszczynski made a motion that this request be referred to the <br />appropriate departments and bureaus for review and <br />recommendation. Mrs. Mueller seconded the motion which carried. <br />REQUEST TO CLOSE TWYCKENHAM, FROM COLFAX TO WASHINGTON, IN <br />CONJUNCTION WITH WEDDING RECEPTION - MAY 9 1992 - REFERRED <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Adrian Cote' and Ms. Judith <br />George, 1504 East Colfax Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, have <br />submitted an Application for Use Of And Blocking Of Access To <br />Public Right -of -Way For A Party or Similar. Event, requesting that <br />Twyckenham Drive, from Colfax to Washington, be closed on <br />Saturday, May 9, 1992, from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. in <br />conjunction with a wedding reception. Mr. Leszczynski made a <br />motion that this request be referred to the appropriate <br />departments and bureaus for review and recommendation. Mrs. <br />Mueller seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE SECONDHAND DEALERS LICENSE APPLICATION <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the following one (1) secondhand <br />dealers license application has been received: <br />NAME: DIAMOND JIM'S <br />BY: MR. JAMES R. HIGHFIELD <br />ADDRESS: 1601 Lincolnway East <br />FOR THE PURPOSE OF SELLING: Jewelry <br />Mr. Leszczynski further advised that favorable recommendations <br />have been received from the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, <br />Department of Code Enforcement, Police Department and Fire <br />Department on the above application. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. Mueller and carried, the license <br />application was approved and referred to the Deputy Controller's <br />office for issuance of a license. <br />FILING OF ENVIRONMENTAL CLEAN-UP OF LOTS REPORTS <br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that the Board is in receipt of two (2) <br />lists as submitted by the Department of Code Enforcement <br />indicating that ninety-four (94) miscellaneous properties were <br />cleaned by the Department from April 6, 1992 to April 15, 1992. <br />Mrs. Mueller made a motion that the lists be accepted for <br />filing. Mr. Leszczynski seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE CLAIMS <br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that the Deputy Controllers Office has <br />submitted claims in the amounts of $605,154.96 and $1,907,061.29 <br />and recommended approval. <br />
