REGULAR MEETING <br />JANUARY 13, 1992 <br />thirty-seven and one-half cent increase per man-hour but <br />otherwise it remains the same as the previous Agreement with <br />Parking Properties. Ms. Humphreys made a motion that the <br />Agreement be approved and executed. Mrs. DeClercq seconded the <br />motion which carried. <br />AWARD BIDS FOR CHLORINE AND SULPHUR. DIOXIDE AND APPROVE REQUEST <br />TO READVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS FOR FERRIC CHLORIDE <br />Mr. Karl R. Kopec, Manager of Operations, Bureau of Wastewater, <br />advised the Board that he has reviewed the bids received on <br />December 30, 1991, for chlorine, sulphur dioxide and ferric <br />chloride. <br />Mr. Kopec recommended that the following bids be awarded: <br />ROWELL CHEMICAL COMPANY <br />15 Salt Creek Lane <br />Hinsdale, Illinois 60521 <br />Chlorine: $134.90/ton - no deposit <br />Sulphur Dioxide: $350/ton - no deposit <br />Mr. Kopec advised that Rowell Chemical was the low bidder for the <br />above items. Mr. Kopec also advised that he would recommend that <br />no award be made for ferric chloride at this time and that that <br />item be rebid in order to clarify standard units upon which to <br />bid. <br />Therefore, Mrs. DeClercq made a motion that the recommendation to <br />award the above bids to Rowell Chemical Company and the request <br />to readvertise for the receipt of bids for ferric chloride be <br />approved. Ms. Humphreys seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. FOUNDATION, INC OF <br />ST. JOSEPH COUNTY TO CONDUCT MARCH - JANUARY 20, 1992 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Board is in receipt of a request <br />from Ms. Gladys Muhammad, President, The Martin Luther King, Jr., <br />Foundation, Inc., of Saint Joseph County, 914 Lincolnway West, <br />South Bend, Indiana, indicating that the 7th Annual Martin Luther <br />King Holiday Observance will be held on Monday, January 20, <br />1992. <br />Ms. Muhammad noted that the program will start with their annual <br />community -wide Appreciation Breakfast to begin at 7:30 a.m. at <br />the Century Center and activities will continue at the Century <br />Center throughout the day. Therefore, Ms. Muhammad requested <br />permission to conduct the traditional March from the County -City <br />Building to Century Center. March participants will congregate <br />in the lobby of the County -City Building and will march down <br />Jefferson Street to St. Joseph Street beginning at 12:15 p.m. <br />Ms. Muhammad noted that a short program will take place in the <br />lobby of the County -City Building. <br />Mrs. DeClercq indicated that due to the fact that this event is <br />scheduled for one week from today, she would make a motion that <br />the request be approved subject to favorable recommendations <br />being received from the Police Department and the Bureau of <br />Traffic and Lighting and the submission of the required <br />Indemnification and Hold Harmless Agreement.
