Mr. Leszczynski seconded the motion which <br />carried. <br />APPROVE AGREEMENT FOR PROFESSIONAL SERVICES - LUMM ENGINEERS - <br />UPGRADE OF HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM (WASTEWATER <br />TREATMENT PLANT) <br />Mr. Jack J. Dillon, Director, Division of Environmental Services, <br />submitted to the Board a Standard Form of Letter Agreement Between <br />Owner and Engineer For Professional Services between the City and <br />Lumm Engineers, Inc., 1317 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, <br />in the amount of $3,500.00. Mr. Dillon noted that this Contract <br />is for professional engineering services in connection with the <br />upgrade of the heating and air conditioning system for the <br />Division of Environmental Service's Administration building. It <br />was further noted that Lumm Engineers, Inc., will prepare final <br />design documents, provide assistance during the bidding or <br />negotiating, construction administration and any additional <br />services that this project may require. Mr. Leszczynski made a <br />motion that this Contract be approved and executed. Mr. Caldwell <br />seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - DEMOLITION <br />- 1424 SOUTH LAFAYETTE BOULEVARD (STUDEBAKER CORRIDOR REDEVELOP- <br />MENT AREA) <br />In a Memorandum to the Board, Mr. Carl P. Littrell, Director, <br />Division of Engineering, advised that on behalf of the Department <br />of Community and Economic Development, he asks that the Board <br />advertise for the receipt of bids for the above referred to <br />project. Mr. Littrell noted that the plans and specifications for <br />this project have been prepared by Ken Herceg and Associates. <br />Therefore, Mr. Caldwell made a motion that this request be <br />approved. Mr. Leszczynski seconded the motion which carried. <br />REQUEST FOR DESIGNATED HANDICAPPED PARKING SPACE AT 425 WEST <br />MADISON STREET - REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Ernestine McGill, 821 North Diamond <br />Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, advised that her son is severely <br />handicapped. Ms. McGill stated that during the week her son is <br />picked -up and dropped off by a J.J.R. Corporation van at the home <br />of her sister at 425 West Madison. Ms. McGill further stated that <br />many times the driver of the J.J.R. van must stop in the street <br />and block traffic in order to get her son off the van because <br />other residents park in front of her sister's house. Therefore, <br />Ms. McGill asked that the Board designate the parking space in <br />front of her sister's house at 821 North Diamond Avenue, a <br />designated handicapped space in order for the van to have a safe <br />place to pick-up and drop-off her son. Mr. Leszczynski made a <br />motion that this request be referred to the appropriate City <br />departments and bureaus for review and recommendation. Mr. <br />Caldwell seconded the motion which carried. <br />AWARD BIDS - DE-ICING MATERIALS <br />Mr. Sam Hensley, Director, Division of Transportation, recommended <br />that the Board award the following bids which were submitted to <br />the Board on November 15, 1993, for de-icing materials: <br />Sodium Chloride - $29.25 per ton: <br />Indian Trucking Company, Inc. <br />60669 Orange Road <br />South Bend, Indiana 46614 <br />1 <br />1 <br />
