1 <br />1 <br />F-J <br />REGULAR MEETING JULY 19, 1993 <br />There being no further discussion concerning this matter, Mr. <br />Leszczynski made a motion that the request to close Vassar Street, <br />from Johnson to O'Brien, each Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from <br />July 12, 1993 to August 20, 1993 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. for <br />recreational purposes, be denied. Mrs. Mueller seconded the <br />4— <br />mo on which carried. <br />REQUESTS APPROVED: <br />TO CLOSE LAWNDALE AVENUE FROM LINCOLNWAY WEST TO <br />LA PORTE, FOR COMMUNITY EVENT - JULY 24, 1993 <br />OF RIVER OF LIFE FAMILY CHURCH TO CLOSE ST. JOSEPH <br />STREET FROM SOUTH TO BRONSON AND CARROLL STREET FROM <br />TO BRONSON FOR NEIGHBORHOOD COOKOUT - JULY 24 1993 <br />OF FOREST SIGN & DISPLAY INC. TO INSTALL A SIGN AT 520 <br />MICHIGAN STRRRT ( CTf)T.T. D10TATr7TT*Tn C r%r, T/' % <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Board is in receipt of an <br />Application For Use Of And Blocking Of Access To Public Right -of - <br />Way For a Party Or Similar Event, as submitted by Ms. Denise <br />Christian, 678 Lawndale Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, to close <br />Lawndale Avenue, from Lincolnway West to LaPorte, on Saturday, <br />July 24, 1993, from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. for a community event. <br />Mr. Leszczynski noted that this application has been reviewed by <br />the appropriate City departments and bureaus and approval is <br />recommended. <br />Additionally, it was noted that Ms. Janice Hall, River of Life <br />Family Church, 608 South St. Joseph Street, South Bend, Indiana, <br />has also submitted an Application For Use Of And Blocking Of <br />Access To Public Right -of -Way For a Party Or Similar Event, <br />requesting that St. Joseph Street, from South to Bronson and <br />Carroll Street, from South to Bronson, be closed from 11:00 a.m. <br />to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 24, 1993 for a neighborhood <br />cookout. It was further noted that this application has also been <br />reviewed by the appropriate City departments and bureaus and <br />approval is recommended. <br />The request of Forest Sign & Display, Inc., which was submitted to <br />the Board on June 1, 1993, has been reviewed by various City <br />departments and bureaus and is being recommended for approval. <br />Finally, on July 6, 1993, the Community Resource Center requested <br />that both sides of the 100 block of East Washington Street be <br />reserved for transportation vehicles in conjunction with the 8th <br />Annual Retired Senior Volunteer Recognition Luncheon which will <br />take place on Thursday, August 5, 1993, at the Marriott Hotel. It <br />was noted that this request is due to the fact that there will be <br />quite a few handicapped senior citizens attending the luncheon. <br />This request has been reviewed by the appropriate City departments <br />and bureaus and the Board has been advised that because of <br />construction on the north side of Washington Street at the <br />Marriott Hotel which is not expected to be completed until <br />September, the south side of Washington Street will be reserved <br />and also both sides of Service Drive #5. <br />Therefore, Mrs. Mueller made a motion that the above referred to <br />requests be approved. Mr. Leszczynski seconded the motion which <br />carried. <br />
