REGULAR MEETING JULY 6, 1993 <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - CAR WASHES <br />FOR CITY VEHICLES <br />In a letter to the Board, Police Chief Ronald G. Marciniak <br />requested that the Board advertise for the receipt of bids for car <br />washes for City vehicles for the period August 1, 1993 through <br />July 31, 1994. Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the request be <br />approved. Mrs. Mueller seconded the motion which carried. <br />FAVORABLE RECOMMENDATION - ALLEY VACATION - 1ST N/S ALLEY W. OF <br />SOUTH MICHIGAN STREET FROM THE N. R-O-W LINE OF W. STULL TO THE <br />SO. R-O-W- LINE OF THE 1ST INTERSECTING E/W ALLEY N. OF W. STULL <br />Mr. Leszczynski indicated that the Common Council has submitted to <br />the Board a Vacation Petition as signed by George Hertz, Manager, <br />Policemen's Federal Credit Union and Mr. Lester Fox, Real <br />Services, Inc., and naming as Contact Person, Mr. George E. <br />Herendeen, Attorney at Law, 205 West Jefferson Boulevard, Suite <br />300, South Bend, Indiana, to vacate the following property: <br />The first north/south alley west of South Michigan <br />Street, from the north right-of-way line of W. Stull <br />Street to the south right-of-way line of the first <br />intersecting east/west alley north of W. Stull Street <br />for a distance of 285 feet and a width of approximately <br />14 feet; Part located in Stull's Third Addition to the <br />City of South Bend, Indiana. <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Board is in receipt of favorable <br />recommendations concerning this Vacation Petition from the Legal <br />Department, Division of Engineering, Police Department, Fire <br />Department, Division of Sanitation, Department of Economic <br />Development and the Area Plan Commission. <br />Therefore, Mr. Caldwell made a motion that the Board send a <br />favorable recommendation to the Common Council concerning this <br />Vacation Petition. Mrs. Mueller seconded the motion which <br />carried. <br />REQUESTS REFERRED: <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. Mueller <br />and carried the following requests were referred to the <br />appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and <br />recommendation: <br />OF COMMUNITY RESOURCE CENTER, INC., TO RESERVE BOTH SIDES OF <br />E. WASHINGTON STREET, IN FRONT OF THE MARRIOTT HOTEL, FOR <br />PARKING FOR HANDICAPPED SENIOR CITIZENS ATTENDING RETIRED <br />SENIOR VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION LUNCHEON - AUGUST 5. 1993 <br />Ms. Christine Neander, RSVP Coordinator, Community Resource <br />Center, Inc., 914 Lincolnway West, South Bend, Indiana, <br />advised that they will be holding their eighth annual Retired <br />Senior Volunteer Recognition Luncheon on Thursday, August 5, <br />1993 at the South Bend Marriott Hotel. <br />Ms. Neander stated that as in the past three (3) years, they <br />would like to request permission to reserve both sides of the <br />100 block of East Washington Street for transportation <br />vehicles. They expect one (1) United Limo Charter and <br />approximately five (5) to seven (7) vans. Quite a few of the <br />individuals attending the luncheon are handicapped senior <br />citizens who volunteer in this program. <br />TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED PROPERTY AT 902 AND 906 SORIN <br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Isabella Six, 908 Sorin Street, <br />South Bend, Indiana, advised that she is interested in <br />
