24' REGULAR MEETING JUNE 28, 1993 ADOPTED this 28th day of June, 1993. ATTEST: s/Sandra M. Parmerlee, Clerk BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA s/John E. Leszczynski, President s/James R. Caldwell, Member s/Mary H. Mueller, Member Mr. Tom Howell, U93 Radio Station, inquired about the success of policemen on bicycles and inquired if the area which the policemen cover on bicycles would be expanded. Mr. Caldwell advised that the police officers basically cover the downtown area but occasionally expand into the West Washington area. ADOPT RESOLUTION NO. 28-1993 - AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF TWO (2) PARCELS OF PROPERTY TO HABITAT FOR HUMANITY OF ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, INDIANA Board Attorney and Member Mary H. Mueller advised that the Department of Economic Development has been assisting Habitat for Humanity of St. Joseph County in obtaining property to build five (5) new homes for families of lower income. The Department of Economic Development has requested that two (2) parcels of property located at 1134 East Cedar Street and 1330 East Corby be transferred to Habitat for this purpose. Mrs. Mueller noted that the City acquired these properties at no cost. Therefore, Mrs. Mueller made a motion that the Resolution which has been prepared be adopted. Mr. Caldwell seconded the motion which carried and the following Resolution No. 28-1993 was adopted: RESOLUTION NO. 28-1993 A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AUTHORIZING TE 'ER OF CERTAIN PARCI OF PROPERTY TO HABITAT FOR HUMANITY OF ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, INDIANA WHEREAS, the City of South Bend, Indiana (hereinafter the "City"), is the owner of parcels of real property situated in the City of South Bend, St. Joseph County, Indiana, and being more particularly described as follows: Key No. 18-5083-2914 Lot #29 of the Sommers Addition to the City of South Bend, Indiana, commonly known as 1134 East Cedar Street Key No. 18-5091-3212 Lot #298 Park Place 3rd Addition Commonly known as 1330 East Corby WHEREAS, the care, custody and control of estate is vested in the Board of Public Works 9-6-3 and 36-1-11-1, et. seq.; and City -owned real pursuant to I.C. 36- WHEREAS, Habitat for Humanity of St. Joseph County, Indiana (hereinafter "Habitat"), an Indiana not -for -profit corporation meeting the requirements of I.C. 36-1-11-1 (a) (7), desires to obtain ownership of the above -described real estate for the purpose of constructing single-family homes on these properties, which will provide a home ownership opportunity for low-income 1
