Mueller, Member <br />Mr. Tom Howell, U93 Radio Station, inquired about the success of <br />policemen on bicycles and inquired if the area which the policemen <br />cover on bicycles would be expanded. Mr. Caldwell advised that <br />the police officers basically cover the downtown area but <br />occasionally expand into the West Washington area. <br />ADOPT RESOLUTION NO. 28-1993 - AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF TWO (2) <br />PARCELS OF PROPERTY TO HABITAT FOR HUMANITY OF ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, <br />INDIANA <br />Board Attorney and Member Mary H. Mueller advised that the <br />Department of Economic Development has been assisting Habitat for <br />Humanity of St. Joseph County in obtaining property to build five <br />(5) new homes for families of lower income. The Department of <br />Economic Development has requested that two (2) parcels of <br />property located at 1134 East Cedar Street and 1330 East Corby be <br />transferred to Habitat for this purpose. Mrs. Mueller noted that <br />the City acquired these properties at no cost. <br />Therefore, Mrs. Mueller made a motion that the Resolution which <br />has been prepared be adopted. Mr. Caldwell seconded the motion <br />which carried and the following Resolution No. 28-1993 was <br />adopted: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 28-1993 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, <br />AUTHORIZING TE <br />'ER OF CERTAIN PARCI <br />OF PROPERTY TO HABITAT FOR HUMANITY <br />OF ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, INDIANA <br />WHEREAS, the City of South Bend, Indiana (hereinafter the <br />"City"), is the owner of parcels of real property situated in the <br />City of South Bend, St. Joseph County, Indiana, and being more <br />particularly described as follows: <br />Key No. 18-5083-2914 <br />Lot #29 of the Sommers Addition to the City of South <br />Bend, Indiana, commonly known as 1134 East Cedar Street <br />Key No. 18-5091-3212 <br />Lot #298 Park Place 3rd Addition <br />Commonly known as 1330 East Corby <br />WHEREAS, the care, custody and control of <br />estate is vested in the Board of Public Works <br />9-6-3 and 36-1-11-1, et. seq.; and <br />City -owned real <br />pursuant to I.C. 36- <br />WHEREAS, Habitat for Humanity of St. Joseph County, Indiana <br />(hereinafter "Habitat"), an Indiana not -for -profit corporation <br />meeting the requirements of I.C. 36-1-11-1 (a) (7), desires to <br />obtain ownership of the above -described real estate for the <br />purpose of constructing single-family homes on these properties, <br />which will provide a home ownership opportunity for low-income <br />1 <br />
