1 <br />I <br />1 <br />REGULAR MEETING JUNE 7, 1993 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 23-1993 <br />WHEREAS, the City of South Bend, through its Emergency <br />Medical Services Department, charged the persons listed on the <br />attached documents for ambulance services; and <br />WHEREAS, the charges have not been paid to the City of South <br />Bend after at least three notices were sent to the person who <br />received the services; and <br />WHEREAS, Midwest Collection Agency has made every attempt to <br />collect the aforementioned charges, and has not been successful; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Indiana State Board of Accounts has instructed <br />the City to write off all uncollectible accounts after every <br />attempt to collect them has been made; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of South Bend by and through its Board of <br />Public Works, desires to write off the accounts listed on the <br />attached documents. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Public Works <br />of the City of South Bend, that the attached documents totaling <br />$236,152.68 be written off the accounts receivable of the City of <br />South Bend as uncollectible. <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />s/John E. Parmerlee, Clerk <br />ADOPT RESOLUTION NO. 24-1993 - DISPOSAL OF OBSOLETE VEHICLE <br />Mr. Lonnie Lipowski, Division of Equipment Services, informed the <br />Board that Unit 202, a 1986 Ford L.T.D. was involved in an <br />accident on March 8, 1993. The Division of Equipment Services has <br />determined that the damage to this unit is more than the car is <br />worth. The vehicle has a book value of $2,025.00 but an estimate <br />for repairs is $3,375.78. The American States Insurance Company <br />has offered to pay the City $2,375.00 for the vehicle. Therefore, <br />it is requested that this vehicle be declared obsolete and the <br />title be released to American States Insurance Company. <br />Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the appropriate Resolution <br />which has been prepared, be adopted.
