'0 _CONDUCT We
'S
T WAYNE AND ST. JO
FROM ST. JOSEPH TO
MICHIGAN - JUNE 5, 1993
In a Memorandum to the Board, Mr. Jon Williams, Events
Supervisor, Office of Community Affairs, requested permission
to conduct the 18th Annual World's Largest Garage Sale on
Saturday, June 5, 1993, at the Municipal Parking Garage
located on the corner of Wayne and St. Joseph Streets. Mr.
Williams noted that they have received permission from both
the Economic Development Department and the Redevelopment
Commission for use of this garage.
Mr. Williams also requested that Wayne Street, from St.
Joseph Street to Michigan Street, be closed on Saturday, June
5, 1993, from 5:00 a.m. to 5 P.m. in conjunction with this
event.
ST TO PLACE ON
E ON THE PUBLI
REGULAR MEETING
MAY 10, 1993
informed the Board that they would like to conduct a parade
for their Homecoming on October 1, 1993. The parade would
begin at approximately 5:00 p.m. in the Riley High School
parking lot on Fellow Street. The parade would then proceed
east on Ewing Avenue to Miami, turn south on Miami and
continue south to end at Jackson field. Mr. Byrd stated that
it is anticipated that the parade will last approximately one
and one-half (1 1/2) hours.
TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED PROPERTY AT 206 AND 208 BROADWAY
Mr. Fernando Orozco, 204 Broadway, South Bend, Indiana,
advised the Board that he is interested in purchasing the
City -owned lots next to his house at 206 and 208 Broadway to
make a larger yard for his children.
- OF OFFICE OF COMMU
GARAGE SALE AT THE
ice]
ITY AFF
PARKING
E WAYNE
AND ONE OCTA
1081 RIVERSI
BOULEVARD
It is noted that on April 19, 1993, the Board received a request
from Mr. J. Edward Talley, 1081 Riverside Drive Boulevard, South
Bend, Indiana, to install one (1) hollowspun post and one (1)
octagonal junior fixture each on the public right-of-way at 1081,
1093 and 1121 Riverside Drive Boulevard. Mr. Leszczynski
indicated that the Board is now in receipt of recommendations
concerning this request.
aiRN
-WAY AT
Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Board will act only on the
request of Mr. Talley to place a light pole at his residence at
1081 Riverside Drive Boulevard. Other individuals interested in
placing a light pole on the public right-of-way at their residence
must each individually submit a request to the Board.
Mr. Leszczynski further advised that approval of Mr. Talley's
request to place a light pole at his residence is subject to his
signing an Indemnification Agreement to be drafted by the City
Attorney's office, removing the pole if the City needs the public
right-of-way and agreeing to remove the pole if the City
determines it to be unsafe.
Mr. Talley advised members of the Board that he has no objections
to those requirements.
Therefore, Mr. Caldwell made a motion that the request to place
one (1) hollowspun post and one (1) octagonal junior fixture on
the public right-of-way at 1081 Riverside Drive Boulevard be
approved. Mr. Leszczynski seconded the motion which carried.
1
